dealsbuffalo ministation plus 1tb portable usb 3.0…

Bah.. I don't want a USB 3.0. I missed, or didn't see if I can use a 2.0 with it.

usb 3.0 and usb 2.0 can be used either way - if your controller is 2.0, a 3.0 device will clock back to 2.0. If your controller is 3.0 and you plug a 2.0 device into it, it will run at 2.0 - the only way to get 3.0 speed is to have a 3.0 usb port and a 3.0 device

Can anyone comment on the reliability of Buffalo hard drives? I could sure use this but dont want to risk my data.

Even if they are reliable, not sure if I should wait and get the 2TB Seagate that will be on sale during black friday for $79.99.

I've had their 500gb usb 3.0 drive for about a year now with no problems at all. I don't know if it's reliable for everyone, but it's been all good for me.

I bought this same drive back in May for a bit more money. I'm very happy with it and it's well worth it to get the USB 3.0 architecture if you have USB 3.0 on your machine. Like most, if not all USB 3.0 drives, it's USB 2.0 compatible. I use mine between MY Mac and my Windows machine. It's worked flawlessly the whole time I've had it.

@jgarcia408: Black Friday? I think the 2TB is on sale already.

This Buffalo 1Tb is a portable hard drive, meaning it is about the size of a pack of cigarettes, and should run off a USB port, no power adapter required. The 2Tb drive is indeed on sale now also, and has twice the capacity, but it is a desktop drive -- larger, requiring a power adapter, far heavier.

@photoagent101: Good point. I forgot about portability. Looks like Im going to go ahead and order one of these.

Buffalo products are pretty reputable - their routers and networking gear are top class. Seems like a good excuse for me to spend all those Staples reward certificates that have been piling up.
