How heavy is this cookware? I usually use the T-Fal brand, and I picked up a stockpot by Paula Deen the other day and it was HEAVY - I prefer the lighter weight pieces.
@sand4me: This is pretty thick stuff. My mother has a set of pots and pans from Calphalon and most of it is pretty heavy. But, it's thick and study and is pretty much built to last a lifetime. Certainly going to be a brand i'll look for when i'm ready to upgrade from my low-end, "fresh out of college" junk pots.
Although it's good stuff, the non-stick stuff doesn't 'last a lifetime' 2 to 3 years max with regular use.
My Calphalon Commerical pots and pans are 6 years old and in great condition. Still work like the first day I had them.
@mulcher2: Stupid me learned the hard way that the dishwasher was one of the fastest ways to make the unstick surface start to stick. Fabulous things one learns by reading the fine print :?
Anyone know what line this stuff actually is? You go on the Calphalon website and there is no such thing as a "Commercial" line. There are some 20 different lines, but none called "Commercial" either in existing or discontinued lines.
@mulcher2: That's true for non-stick stuff, but their Hard Anodized ones are really good stuff. I got one small 9-inch pan 4-5 years ago and love it. My dad has a whole set, I'm in for the 9-piece set. That's a HUGE discount.
@d0rk4l: I actually don't want something that will last forever. I prefer to change designs and cookware about every 4 years or so. There is always something newer, prettier, more useful, different shapes. I like having new things, so guess I am not interested in "a lifetime of cooking with the same frying pan" - changing colors pretty soon.
calphalon hard anodized is GREAT. I pick up a piece every time it's on sale :)
@kooosh: Though it's still covered by a lifetime warranty, Calphalon discontinued the Commercial Hard-Anodized line in 2004 and replaced it with Calphalon One Infused Anodized.

this is my favorite pan in my kitchen — has gottten a lot of wear and tear over the years. my second fav is my infused-anodized omelet pan. great now i am craving an omelet.
Guys. I have used these pans for five years now. They are the best. Heavy, great non-stick. I love them. I normally pay $50 plus just for the 12-inch skillet.
I have a bunch of these, I usually buy at thier outlet store too
