iCade - iPad Arcade Cabinet for $149.99
Didn't think you needed an iPad? Think again!
When the iPad was announced, we all crammed into a conference room to watch live and drool over every shiny corner and reflecty icon. After the glow of the initial announcement wore off, many of us came to the conclusion that the iPad was actually pretty useless. "It's a giant iPhone!" some said. Others exclaimed, "WTF, no Flash!?". Still, we knew that most Apple fanbots (us included) would have to have one anyway.
Knowing that many of our loyal geeky customers would eventually get their retractable claws on an iPad at some point, we knew we needed to take it to the next level. What cool things could we do with the iPad that you, our lovely geek customers, would squee over? A few brainstorming sessions later, the idea of a MAME cabinet came up and we knew we'd struck gold. How cool would it be to slide your iPad into a desktop-sized arcade cabinet and rock it old school with some Pac-Man or Space Invaders?
9" wide x 10" deep x 16" high
The joke doesn't really work when you have "april fool's day" in the tags. :P
Even though I'm no fan of maxiPad (or anything else by Apple, for that matter), admittedly, this is a pretty cool concept. But is this $150 iPad speaker dock really a "deal", or was it just posted in the wake of all the hype? This is thinkgeek we're talking about, after all...
@zombiekicker: Heh, I honestly thought this was real.
I was wondering if this was another prank, but hoped it wasn't! Sounds cool!! Not too hot on the high price tag, but would like one at a lower price :)

This was too good to be true so I got suspicious as I read thru the description. HOWEVER, it is still a great idea and actually could be done. You jokesters should take a step back and actually consider doing this! (except, last I heard, Apple doesn't allow emulators into the iTunes store. Bummer.)
I say 3 months and this is no longer a joke but an Genuine Crapple product
Would it even be possisle to run MAME on an iPad?
@kida0723: Why not? It's been running on (jailbroken) iPhones for 18 months: http://www.iphonealley.com/news/mame-emulator-for-iphone-released
Yep, definitely could see this as real, mostly because anyone dumb enough to buy and MaxiPad would be dumb enough to buy this.
Hey you never know...maybe it could be a reality some day. Wasn't their taun taun sleeping bag an april fools joke that became a real product?
