5 AA rechargeable batteries, Lasts 5 days, The UV bulb is not going to be running very often then or else it's really small and/or there's a battery only mode. That's just as well, If it was running all the time you would be replacing the bulb every 10.26 months. $85 buys you a nice trash can for outside the kitchen door and a lot of liners too. ymmv

I'm just giggling at the name.
Sounds like something a toddler would say after "making go"

This does, indeed, appear to be a great deal. That is, if you desire sanitary trash.

Personally, I don't quite get it. If you do get it, snatch this up before it's gone!

I don't have this particular model, but I own one. Mine has a lip around the top edge which makes getting the full bag out almost impossible (Especially since everyone in my family crams more garbage in rather than emptying it!)

THIS one looks like it's bigger at the bottom than at the top- which could cause the same problem when trying to empty it..

This looks like a horrible design - having a bigger base than opening is just asking for your trash bags to constantly get stuck. Even if you don't stuff as much trash in there as possible.

@tcayer: @dannnnnn: I can't imagine the actual liner to be flared at the bottom like that.
I suspect it's a rigid cylinder, but can't seem to find any proof.

8 Gallons? Just enough room to put a 2 Liter bottle of Cheerwine, a gallon jug of milk and the family size box of Reese's Puffs. I will be changing the bag 12,000 times a day...

$80 for something you put trash in. The end.

@j5: I kind of thought the same thing, but like you said - no proof, so I'm not going to assume it is the case. FWIW: We got This SimpleHuman trash can, and we love it. http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?SKU=17096702

I'm tired of hearing that stainless steel or black will "match the decor of any room"!

@mamajamerson: It's not so much that you sanitize the trash for the sake of germ-free trash but that every time you open up the trash, you risk spreading airborne bacteria. This kills it while it's in the bin before it has a chance to grow.

As for the flared bottom design and the window, it's like some poorly designed 1950s era robot. You could put some bumps all over the body and a couple arms to get a poor-man's Dalek.
