Intriguing - and I'm guessing that, if you make them yourself, they'll be something like a more natural version? Maybe? Or does the kit include a million preservatives??

Actually twinkies did not have any preservatives in them.
Well it can't really be much like a regular twinkie since real twinkie's are not baked.

@ckeilah: Not really. Hostess is selling off some of its brands, and it is expected that Twinkies could be back on shelves in as little as a few months.
And Twinkies aren't all that good anyway. Start selling a Ding Dong maker, though, and that would be a whole different story.
I had this a while ago. I bought it on sale at Bed Bath and Beyond. It was cute. The cakes I made looked like Twinkies and kinda-sorta tasted like Twinkies, but when I moved I got rid of it because I didn't use it enough to justify keeping.
Also, keep in mind that this doesn't come with a mix--just the cake pan, the pastry bag, and a recipe booklet.

They had minimal preservatives - and went stale very quickly. Most people who complain about preservatives in them probably never had a fresh one.
I'm pretty sure one of the food network shows (good eats maybe) did a segment on making your own with no special pan.

I would be wary of an ebay seller that gets 1-3 negative feedbacks a day and doesn't respond to the complaints regardless of how many positives ones they received. How a seller treats the sales gone bad speaks louder than how many they got right. Seems like to buy from them may be rolling the dice if something goes wrong.
