Do you know anyone who has actually done this? I did not see anywhere that it said it would extend the benefits. When we have tried to extend a Prime trial in the past, we have been told that we have already participated in this offer.

Works. I was scared at first, but did it. NICE! THANKS!

vote-for7vote-against

@rodneysiev: I did it right before posting the deal, as well. That's two of us that it worked for.

vote-for3vote-against

Cool, thanks. This will mean another Christmas with Prime. yay!

vote-for3vote-against

I did it, it seemed to work fine, cancelled and resigned up.

My student start date has been moved to today, but on the Prime screen, it still has the same expiration date it had before I did that. So I don't really know if it has any effect.

Was also a little skeptical... but just tried it and it extended my membership until Feb. 28, 2012, as promised, thanks!

vote-for2vote-against

Mine definitely still says July. I'll retry it when I get back home.

Thinking back, my sister signed me up for Amazon Mom recently, to get the diaper discount. So cancelling Student probably doesn't actually cancel my prime, which is why it doesn't reset for me.

vote-for2vote-against

Worked for me too!

Membership dates: July 12, 2010 - February 29, 2012
(They even gave me leap day!)

vote-for4vote-against

@vyperstrike: if you have a .edu address, cancel both. One year > 3 months unless the diaper discount is > one year. :)

vote-for2vote-against

Didn't know if this was legit, but hooray for everyone helping out on the discussion boards! Definitely worked and worth it!

vote-for4vote-against

Worked for me! Thanks!
Student membership was going to expire in July 2011, but now it's renewed until February 29, 2012!

vote-for1vote-against

Worked for me! Super excited!

vote-for1vote-against

Canceled mine, renewed, and it worked! Leap year day for me as well. Thanks!

vote-for1vote-against

I want a leap year expiration because then it's good for 4 years! :p

vote-for1vote-against

I held my breath the whole time my student account was canceled but it all worked out fine.

vote-for1vote-against

The australia.edu email does not work anymore? It did previously

vote-for1vote-against

Worked for me as well.

Yes, I held my breath too, I've been enjoying Amazon Prime. :)

vote-for1vote-against

Does anyone know when we can renew at the latest?

vote-for1vote-against

It worked for me! Good til leap year next year :) And if this doesn't work for someone for some reason, I'm sure you can call them and say your little brother got on your computer and cancelled it by accident or something and they would reinstate it for you. Their customer service is usually awesome.

vote-for1vote-against

@paisannyc: I don't think so and I wouldn't cancel to try. You can, though! ;)

vote-for1vote-against

cool... I guess it was just my day to re-up (this and xbox live gold)

(it worked, by the way)

vote-for1vote-against

works! Feb 29, 2010, six extra months!

vote-for1vote-against

@kylemittskus: Done. Lasts until Leap Day for me now too.

vote-for1vote-against

Confirmed. Worked great for me, new membership end date: Feb 29th!

vote-for3vote-against

I had a paid Amazon Prime (worth it) membership 1 year ago, when I changed to Student Prime, they refunded the 4 months remaining on my account ($20 or so), thats a nice company.

Mine's still good til August, 2011. This is an ongoing thing for any student email by the way.

Im sure you could even take a $800 online class at a University that provided Google Email Accounts (with the @edu), which most university's allow you to keep forever, allowing someone to possibly repeat this forever.

vote-for1vote-against

Totally worked for me as well. I was gonna be so sad when my membership ended. Will probably end up paying for it when they do end the student deal.

vote-for1vote-against

I was worried when the form didn't work the first time but after a refresh it worked!

vote-for1vote-against

thanks, mine was actually just about to expire next week. perfect timing

vote-for3vote-against

I didn't like the canceling part, but with so many successful comments I tried it. It worked!! It went right through for me, but my sister had to refresh several times and fill in each blank (instead of keeping auto fill) and hers finally worked too.

Thanks!!!

vote-for1vote-against

It's frightening to do but it did actually work for me.
Membership dates: October 15, 2010 - February 29, 2012

vote-for1vote-against

Thank you, mine was gonna expire in July... nothing like 8 extra months :3

vote-for1vote-against

Grrrr.

My .edu account just expired from my alma mater.

Anyone know of a free email server that happens to have the .edu tag? ::cheesy grin::

vote-for2vote-against

Freakin' sweet! Makes sending the kid to college a better deal.

vote-for1vote-against

Sweet, thanks for the great tip!

vote-for1vote-against

Worked for me, too.

It seems like one could just do this again every year when the Prime benefits are about to expire, no?

vote-for2vote-against

This does not cover their new on demand movies though :-/
