Hmmm, both of our cars need new tires. Gonna have to check into this place. Anyone have any experience with them?

I just bought new tires for my car and did a lot of comparison amongst Firestone, Discount Tire, Walmart, Big O, and a few other places. The combination of best quality tire and price for me was Walmart. Discount Tire was actually the most expensive/worst tire and they really tried to pull some shady salesman stuff with me. Big O wasn't bad on the quality and tire price, with a b3g1 offer, but would charge me $150 (after a $50 coupon) for 5 year rotation and balancing. I was able to get some good Hankooks at Walmart (shipped site to store), put on, with lifetime balancing and rotation for $325 (293 for the tires, 32 for lifetime balance/rotation -- would have been 44 but they forgot to charge me for valve stems). The other places would have all been in the $298-316 range, all without lifetime balancing and rotation.

@pitamuffin: I don't have experience with this site, but everything I see so far leads me to believe it's a legit and trustworthy site.

@pitamuffin: I've bought tires from this site before and have recommended friends who also bought from here without any issues. Basically you choose a set of tires, have them ship to a local tire shop that will install and balance your tires. The cool thing is that they will show you the price of the installer and shops around your area. The selection of tires is not that great, but if you're not looking for a specific tire this site will do just fine.

Also check SimpleTire.com & TireTeam.com. They both ship nationally, and I know SimpleTire can give you a better shipping price over the phone or by email if shipping seems high (they'll ship it freight).

Avoid Discount Tire. The last time I went to Discount Tire they took two of my chrome valve stems and replaced them with black plastic, and they broke some kind of sensor that now causes my dash lights to always come on (and stay on) when I hit the brakes once.

I bought 4. were installed on Monday. for a total of $307 I got 4 new tires (nissan cube - odd size), balanced, mounted and installed. Doesn't get any better than that. btw, the tires were ordered on a tuesday eve, the last night of the deal and were there in 24 hours. very impressed and will recommend tirebuyer.com to others - however, you didn't get more of a deal from woot than they offered on their own website.

BTW, all the install prices were wrong for my area. I ended up going with the one listed as $75 to install and the real price was only $40. Worth calling all the ones in your area. the prices are not accurate and you could get a better price than you think for an installer.
