Downside though is that the batteries are not replaceable.

Yea but they blink instead of glow. I found glowing utensils (forks, knifes, spoons) at http://www.windycitynovelties.com/11083p/glowing-cutlery-knives-forks-and-spoons-in-4-colors.html for way cheaper. Like $0.15 a piece!!!
