I will never, ever understand this receiver. For that price, you can get a REAL receiver, not this one. I suppose if you lived in a 8' X 6' box with another person and space was an absolute premium, then it might be OK, but if that's the case, you've got bigger issues than needing a receiver.

Just placed my order.

It took a few tries before I got the promo code discount
to work, but finally did.

@spyder69696969: This price is a deal. But when it first came out there were so many better receivers for half the price it was comical.

Wait... I'm definitely looking for a good, cheap receiver. I don't even watch tv... I just want awesome sound and video from my ps3 and xbox 360. Will I have problems with this one? What makes it not a real receiver?

oops. posting from bed on the smartphone wasn't a good idea. Also, does this thing pass audio through to the tv?

this seems like a pretty sweet deal, does anyone have one that they can share their opinion about this? Can I hook up any speakers or do they need to be specific yamaha ones? Any details would be greatly appreciated!

@cerberez: It's a basic receiver with several extra "tweaks" (WiFi for example.) For $180 it's a really hard deal to beat. For $800 (original price) it was a bit too high.

@derricka: The non-WiFi model was. Not this one.

I only see one audio input.

Why would they design it that way? Guess I'll have to use my Sima switcher box.

I'm a custom electronics installer and have installed a couple dozen of these amazing receivers. It's not for every application, but for small to medium size rooms, and clients who want to hide their equipment in a base cabinet - there is nothing better, or cheaper. It is a surround receiver, a universal remote, and a wireless streaming device, all in one. I HIGHLY recommend this piece, as there is nothing I have found in 10 years of doing this professionally, that comes close to delivering this functionality at this price. I'm very disappointed that Yamaha has chosen to discontinue this product - hence the huge price drop. It works really well when installed properly.
