The hot chocolate K-cups are actually pretty good. Nice change when you need a break from coffee.

I thought the women in my office were crazy about these, and then a bunch of the men got them. Boy was I WRONG!

vote-for5vote-against

I don't think the hot chocolate tastes good at all. Just me personally, naturally.

Or you could just put some Swiss Miss in a cup and add hot water. I never saw the point of Hot Chocolate K-Cups.

vote-for12vote-against

@marlenangel There is something to be said for no stirring and not having chocolate sludge at the bottom of the cup. Plus, these are better than swiss miss by a long ways

You can get cappuccino also...

FYI, hot chocolate k-cups are great, but with my experience they clog the needle up more often than the coffee.

Having tried K-Cup hot chocolate before, I have to say that it's pretty weak. I guess I am used to using milk instead of water, but even then it seems like not enough chocolate mix is in the K-Cup to make it taste decent. Just my 2 cents.

That said, I have only tried the variety that came with the 60-cup sampler pack.

Shipping's only free if you spend $25+ on eligible items

@maverick96: I second this opinion. Your cup will suffer if you choose to make a larger-sized cup-- too thin.

As with Maverick, I've only tried the sampler pack... No idea if the other brands are better.

Price now shows 10.50. Must sign up for subscribe and save to get the $8.92 price.

Swiss Miss is cheaper and almost as simple.

It positively kills me to see anything Keurig listed as a 'deal'. Such a waste of material/money.

vote-for1vote-against

I feel bad about signing up for a subscription and then after I get the first shipment, cancelling the subscription. But a 15% discount is 15% more money in my pocket, so I did it. I did order 2 boxes and hope that they are good.

@ksapp82: To keep the needle from clogging, I always run a water flush through my keurig after I finish brewing anything.

ColdStone has an instant hot chocolate mix that's a lot better than swiss miss, IMO. But, it doesn't come in a sugar-free variety for those more health-conscious, and of course it costs a little more - but you get your money's worth

@swolcheski: if you use subscribe and save, shipping is free.

@brasssong: i mentioned this in the post.

I have these, they are ok, not terrible but not great. I tend to nuke a little milk in a mug, then have the Kcup pour into that. Makes it taste a little bit better.

All Kcup hot chocolates are mediocre, just look at the reviews on amazon, some people like them, but overall you get the general impression that they are all not that great.

vote-for2vote-against

eh, i got 12 free from their facebook page yesterday... its weak stuff, just use swiss miss

vote-for0vote-against

@zrmeyer: That's fine if you don't like it, but my family does. It's simple enough for the kids to brew something whenever they want, and it's convenient as heck.

Does it brew wonderful coffee/tea/hot chocolate? No. Does it brew stuff that's good enough most of the time? In my opinion...yeah.

Even if you get the one-time price, it's still a decent price. K-cups are (IN GENERAL) $0.50 apiece (or more) in stores, and with Prime you get free shipping even if you don't take the subscription option.

@nflemming2004: Wasn't aware Cold Stone sold hot chocolate? What location are you referring too? I'm a supervisor at a Tim Horton's/Cold Stone location and I have never heard of Cold Stone selling hot chocolate. Maybe you are also referring to a TH/CS location?

Edit: Google'd it and I see that it is a product sold in convenience stores. Explains why we don't have it for sale at our location and I have never heard of it before. lol, my bad.

I use these all the time along with my hot mineral water cups, my moistened hot towel cups and my powered jello k-cups.

@kaptinkurk: I'm not sure about convenience stores, I buy it at my supermarket. I think it would be a great idea to sell at ColdStone locations though, if you can get permission to do so.

I've actually purchased this brand, and they are mediocre. Compared to the "real" K-cup brand (Cafe Escapes) these are basically like convenience store coffee and hot chocolate. They make apple cider (too sweet in my opinion), cappuccino (very artificial!) and hot chocolate in several flavors. They are okay but not great - however at much less per cup than any other k-cup, you get what you pay for. These will still leave hot-chocolate sludge in the bottom of your cup; these are not really "brewed" because it basically just shoots the heated water through powder in the cup and dissolves it into your cup. That said, if you are okay with the above caveats, it is a good price relative to other ones.

@omnichad: They now have a message up that they have "run out" of freebie cups (in only 6 hours). Too bad I saw this too late!

I bought this at Food Lion yesterday for about 4 bucks for a 12 pack. It's a decent enough cup of cocoa for me. I use the middle size, and add some milk, and it was pretty yummy. I only bought it because it was only 4 bucks, I wouldn't normally spend anywhere close to 50 for a cup of cocoa.
