Right after you pour the wine into your glass, take a good sniff – you'll get some wet clay and earth notes that are indicative of the Syrah. After swirling, the Syrah has a say with a deep savory note, but it's all Grenache from there, with bright red fruit coming to the fore. On the palate, toasted fennel seed and black peppercorn emerge, making me think of richer dishes with a touch of sweetness to pair. A pork pozole with fresh nutmeg shaved on top would be gorgeous with this stunning wine.
