Love the Kindle freebies. I think I have over 150 books on my To Be Read list (TBR). I never thought I would feel guilty having such a backlog, but there it is. The wonder of the digital age!

@bostonmom3: You can purchase Kindle books even if you do not own a Kindle. You can either purchase it and send it to your Kindle Cloud Reader and be able to access them at https://read.amazon.com/ or you can install Kindle for PC on your computer and download it on your computer and be able to read the books offline. Even if you send it to your Cloud Reader you can always send it to your PC later on, or Kindle if you ever buy one and vise versa.

@bostonmon3 if you have ordered you Kindle and it is under your account with amazon, simply "buy" the free books with your amazon account... and when your kindle arrives it will be loaded with your selections the first time your wireless connects. Huge tip- Keep your wireless turned off when not active searching or downloading. With wireless off my Kindle 2 stays charged 30 days!

Most of these are books that have been free for some time; it's not a special deal, they've just compiled a lot of their free books into one easy list. Lots of free "first book in the series" to get you hooked into buying more.

That being said, there are some great free books on this list. I've "bought" and read and enjoyed several of them.

Thank you! There are many cookbooks on this list, some of which I didn't have.

Avoid the novellas and short stories; they are usually "samples" of full books or adjuncts to them.

Thanks for the feedbook. I was waiting til after today (still hoping the fire will come up on a lightning deal or something before I order mine(. So you are saying get the books first & it will just poof be on there when I get it & connect it ? Wicked cool.

For me, I'm definitely getting "Budget of the United States Government, Fiscal Year 2011" for a little light reading. Thanks woot

@jacroe: Oh man that's a real page-turner. Once you get to the Department of the Interior chapter, the notes on Water Resources Infrastructure alone will have you chewing your fingernails down to nubs. After that, you better have a few hours open in your schedule! Once you start on the Department of Justice and start reading the breakdown of its discretionary budget, you'll want to keep going until the very end of the book.

If you're like me, once finally finish the last, suspenseful chapter, you'll want to just keep right on going into the 100 pages or so of supplemental material and summary tables.

All in all, this book is the best book on assisted suicide I have read in a long time. Not since Twilight have I ever felt so close to blowing my brains out.

I have an Amazon account, but I own a Nook Tablet (rooted).
Can anyone tell me if there is a way I can read the amazon books on my Nook?

I'm giving a Kindle Fire for Christmas. Is there anyway I can sign up to have the recipient receive this deal but with a deferred delivery date?

vote-for1vote-against

Thanks, I just registered my iPad2 app for Kindle and downloaded a dozen or so FREE books.

Now if I can only find time and will to read them.

@jrhodes976: If your nook is rooted, that means you can put any app on there? You should be able to get the kindle app.

@jrhodes97 : I have a nook Touch, unrooted. I can load Kindle books via Calibre. Buy book, Download to Kindle PC. Dig around and find the Kindle Book folder. (I think my documents, my Kindle Books.) Open with Calibre, load to nook with Calibre. It obviously takes longer than whispersync, but if you do several at a time it's no big deal.

Wow! Thanks for that. I am getting my wife a tablet for Christmas and now she will have 104 books to choose from day one.

So I guess you have to give away Romance books nowadays looking at this list. Great find though, found a few other than romance books that I picked up.

Thanks furtivespy and starryc84 for your comments. I could not find a kindle app. I do have the amazon marketplace and I searched for it, but for some reason it didn't come up. I'll have to try again after work.
I have heard alot about Calibre, but I haven't tried it out yet. I'll dl it tonight.
