dealsemachines laptop for $199.00 + free shipping

Not as good of a deal as the 15-16" we'll see at black friday, but I'm in, it's better than waiting in line on black friday when there will be lots of other items!! :-)

Not sure why the poster says "old Intel Celeron", this processor is 64-bit processor just released to market in Q1 of 2011. Though I will agree it's definitely not a gaming computer or hard work intensive, but the cost alone should be indicative of those for anyone considering a laptop purchase. Perfect fit for granddaughter this Christmas, she mostly surfs the web and does school work.

Here's the specs for anyone considering:

Intel Celeron 925 Processor 64-bit (2.3GHz, 1MB L2 Cache, 800MHz FSB)
14" WXGA LCD (1366x768) Display
2GB DDR3 Memory
320GB 5400RPM Hard Drive
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500M w/ HDMI
4-Cell Battery
0.3MP Webcam w/ Mic
Multiformat DVD+/-RW/CD-RW w/ Double-layer Support
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit

As previously mentioned, the processor isn't awesome but it's no slouch, either. Passmark puts it at a solid 820, which is actually higher than the best Atom you can get on the market right now (the D525, which clocks in at 711). So it might be bottom-tier for a notebook but it will be faster than basically any netbook. Just FYI!

It's lower-spec, but I think it is absolutely amazing that we can get a fully-featured laptop these days for $199.

anyone know about the "upgradeability" of this sort of laptop? hardware wise?

I don't know for sure, but if I had to guess based off of my experience with laptops, the only thing you can replace is the hard-drive, ram, and cd/dvd drive. If you're lucky (and I mean lucky), you can replace the CPU. Other than that, replacing anything else is not worth the money, seeing as this is only a $200 laptop.

Shipping and store pickup are both unavailable.

In my zip code I also cannot find it available to ship or pick up. I phoned Best buy and the closest store that I could go pick it up at is about 50 - 60 miles away. So, apparently they are only available in-store, yet they are selling them online, and you won't actually know you can't find one until you get to the shipping page. Fun stuff Best Buy!

This appears to be unavailable in most places. I found ONE Best Buy in AZ that has it, a couple in CA, and that's pretty much it.

Unfortunately with best buy, they run out fast. Thought it would be better than their midnight sale and daily deal since it was supposed to be a 2-day sale.
