If you need instructions to use a straight razor, the last thing you'll want to pass over your skin is this cheap piece of crap. A quality ten-dollar straight razor doesn't exist.

Ide like to see a deal on the dovo onrs with replaceable razors ive heard they are good for beginners and finding one for a good price is the only thing keeping me out of trying the straight razor thing out.

@alfredenigma: I'm not an expert, in fact I'm more inclined to shave my legs if you get the drift, but my sun found a beautiful, older, traditional second hand, which can be both DISINFECTED and sharpened appropriately. Then you get the rest of the details online for how to. Honestly, my 23 year old found it! He did a lot of homework and the general consensus is that there's nothing out their for a remotely reasonable price, if at all, that's worth the money. If this pops up somewhere in my email later and I've gotten the name on it off him, I'll pop it back to you!

@alfredenigma: To go with something to learn with and hardly no investment, I went with something like this razor from Amazon. I've been using a different model for the past 3 years and I'm completely happy with how it works. Quality straight razors can set you back quite a bit and they need regular maintenance. Disposable is the way to go when you want to learn. Watch some youtube video's and go slowly. I would also invest a couple of Styptic Pencil's. They come in handy no matter what you shave with.

@profesir1: That's very similar to what I learned with before I sprung for a Dovo.
If anyone is considering trying a disposable straight, don't work about having to buy the special single edge blades. You can use any double edge blade in them. You just cut them in half and 1 blade becomes 2. (Just don't use your wife's good scissors.)

Do a quick search for straight razors on ebay and you'll find plenty that are refillable with standard double edge razor blades for under five bucks. That's what I use since I'm too cheap to spring for a good honest to god straight razor.

Oh, I can practice my Sweeney Todd impersonation with this!!!

This place's razors are of very low quality. When I bought his kit in 2011 it was sharpened with a kitchen knife sharpener and did a terrible job of shaving. This razor is less than what I paid for makes me wonder what he done with it.

DON'T FORGET :: You'll need to find/buy sharpening compound bar or paste for your strop.
