I am guessing they are doing this in response to the Verizon iPhone. I can confirm that I have already received a confirmation back from ATT after sending my text for the free text messages. Below is a link to an article talking about this for reference.

I just received a confirmation stating I will receive 1000 free roll-over minutes and that it will take up to four weeks to process.

The thing is, I don't have a contract with AT&T. I use their Go-Phone plan where I buy minutes annually.

This will be interesting.
