Cast Iron Pan Doorstop for $19.99
Keep that pan right where it's ready to knock someone over the noggin'.
Nothing’s better than cast iron for cooking a steak—or holding a door! Combining two of my favorite materials, cast iron and reclaimed barnwood, these rustic doorstops celebrate our pioneer past with full flavor. The skillets are authentic cast iron from the oldest family-owned cookware foundry in America, specially mounted to a thick base of vintage barnwood. Handmade in the USA. 6½" skillet, 9½" h.
Kind of a shame they made a doorstop out of it. I'm halfway thinking about buying one and chopping the wood off of the back. My luck, they've coated them with lead paint.
Looks like they drilled holes to mount the wooden block. Chopping off the block wouldn't do any good. What a waste of a cast iron pan.
Cast iron pans aren't that expensive. Between $5 and $30. Just go out and buy one.
If you want to give your house that rustic farmhouse look, then just buy a little brown plastic wedge doorstop at a hardware store for 89 cents like real farmers do.
A twenty dollar door stop. Really?
Look closely at the size. this is a 6 1/2 wide skillet. Its not one you'd actuall use for cooking. More of a mini-skillet.
I routinely cook in a skillet this size. I don't know who you cook for, but I am single and this is just the right size for a couple of eggs (for example).
Also, I routinely see used cast iron in a variety of shapes and sizes at thrift stores for less than 10 bucks. Sure, it doesn't have a twee block attached to make it stand handle-up like that. On the other hand, it could actually double as cookware in a pinch.
But the best door stop, IMO, is a rock. And it's free, if you aren't too particular about the rock.
I think the saddest part of this product is that people are actually arguing over the fact that it can/can't be cooked out of. It's a $20 doorstep no one will ever buy.
this isn't just $20.. its a reduced price down to $20. it has to be good if it was originally more.
You can buy this skillet for about $10. I believe I got mine at Walmart or Target. I recently got a much bigger one (12 inches) for $20. The little one cooks one steak, one grilled cheese, or a couple eggs perfectly. I use the larger one when cooking for 2 or 3 people.
This doorstop needs to go on Regretsy.
@zebulonsmith: After you get done cutting the wood, pulling the screws and cleaning it - you're gonna probably need to buy a welding rig to fix the monstrous holes the 2 giant screws left behind.
So after we factor in time, money, aggravation and the cost of the doorstop...
It might be a little cheaper to just buy yourself a pan...
But it's your call man! You do what feels right for YOU :D
@adingostolemybaby
If you really want to give your house that authentic rustic feel -- stop using the gods damned cookware and start using a rock or a pair of boots you aren't wearing.
@treedweller: I bet one could be rather discerning in their rock selection and still come up with a free one.
I believe this was the sign Harold Camping looked to when he prophesied the world would end on May 21.
