I remember the good old days (like, a few years ago) when you could get a free, freshly-glazed donut just for walking in when the "Hot Donuts" sign was on...

Hm. I have only been in a Krispy Kreme once, on my way to join my friends in line for the Mighty Marvel Movie Marathon (with Avengers premiere). The server handed me a hot donut to enjoy while I was selecting the dozen I wanted to buy. I thought it was a "thing". Maybe because KK is just getting a toehold in my city they are still doing this? I find KK to be too sweet, I like the donuts made in the local Mexican bakeries, they have a denser body and a faint taste of yeast, like yeast rolls.
