Hm... Does anyone know how these withstand general wear and tear?

@ferretferret: Was wondering the same thing.. I imagine it doesn't stand up well to wear and tare. Probably just a novelty; Good concept though.

I have several decks- we play with them all the time. They hold up well, and look really cool! This is a great price! You can also find them with a wooden presentation box. Makes a great gift for your dude friends!

@ferretferret: They are pretty durable! We use mine every week!

okay you guys convinced me. I play every week but don't host as often and these seem cool enough. If they last a few games i'll consider it worth the 10 bucks.

The face of these cards looks awesome. The design of the back is a dealbreaker though. Makes the deck look like a cheesy novelty instead of a premium deck. Just my opinion. Does anyone know if these are offered else ware with a different back?

I'm in for 2. Xmas is coming.

@belyndag: That was the first thing I thought when I saw this on here, they do come up all the time. I can't think of a deals site that hasn't had a deck of 24k gold-plated playing cards at least once in 2013, and I'm pretty sure some sites have had them multiple times this year.

@corysterrett: I thought the same thing, and I found a deck just like this but with a checkered back on eBay -- bought a deck last night.

They say I got a free item with my order by using the code "free4me1833" but we'll see when it gets here. Might just be a stick of gum but hey, free is free.

@lilmusk: Too bad those have the same ugly backs. Plus, IMO, the "999.9 Gold Playing Cards" on top of the box is tacky. Anyone got any more links to share? Thanks!

@fleamarketadict: Yeah it would be a shame if 24k gold playing cards came across as tacky...
