This is 2011. If you’ve got time for a low-speed, two-handed traditional crossbow, you’re doing something wrong.
Trying to buy this deal but the website is all broke to hell. Can't place my order.
These things are pretty cheap quality, and have popped up here on Deals a few times.
For those into the whole 'zombie killing machine' thing, forget it. Your best use for this in an apocalyptic scenario is varmint-hunting for food.
I got one of these a while back. It works, but the plastic bolts it comes with aren't much good for anything other than target practice on cardboard.
If you get one, I'd suggest picking up an extra string (and make sure you wax the string before trying it out).
@brooklyn11218: Loads for me what part is broken.
@prettywootprincess: I got it to work by using internet explorer (yuck). When I tried to order through Firefox the continue buttons weren't doing anything, and then the whole site had a seizure and I had to close the tab.
@brooklyn11218: Ok I let @thefenst know.

This looks like the exact same model I've seen at county fairs for the past 20 years. $10 is the average price too. They are very simple, cheap steel. Even the box looks the same. It's not much of a weapon, doesn't shoot very straight or penetrate anything much stronger than cardboard or sheet metal... maybe a mailbox if you're close enough. It will still hurt someone, but not something you can go hunting with.
I've bought three of them when I was younger and I would still classify them as a teenagers toy now.
Will it ship to NYC?
posted one of these on woot last week and everyone said they are VERY inaccurate and very dangerous.
@brooklyn11218: I could not replicate the error you mentioned in Firefox. I will let the merchant know about your problem.
Mine did.
They aren't very accurate (mostly because they aren't made to any tolerance at all that I can see).
As for being dangerous, it is a real projectile weapon, meaning that one shouldn't point it at anything that one doesn't want to shoot (pretty much the same safety rules as a gun, though you don't have to worry about one of the stock bolts penetrating even a double paned window).
Now I'll be ready for those cardboard zombies! Score!!!
Have bought two of these at different times. Both are crap! Strings pop off ends. Difficult to assemble. Accidental firing without touching trigger!!!
You'll shoot your eye out, kid.
I have 2 of these from BudK (look the same, at least) and have fun just shooting stuff around the yard, and cheap targets. Not the most accurate, not the greatest weapon, but we think it's fun!
Made just cheap enough to hurt you. I have seen string on these break and slap the crap out of someone.
These are a lot of fun, but the bolts break really easy sometimes after just one shot. I would recommend not using a wood target, or anything hard like that.
