I'm glad someone already said it so I don't have to.

I love this movie. I actually gifted it to a bunch of guy friends last year who hadn't seen it. They weren't American. I have now corrupted them all.
@devlavaca: Thanks! It's $39.99 with free shipping at Gandermountain.com, but it's backordered.
Harbor Freight ... $32.99
What, no compass in the stock?
@drgandalf: FRAGILE: it must be Italian!
didn't have a thing that tells time.
deal breaker!
@djbartu: Don't know where you found it on Harbor Freight. I searched for it (to see if it had free shipping)...but couldn't find it.
I was at my local Walmart (Indiana). They had this gun in sporting goods for 25.00.
What?? no compass in the stock? How about a nice football
The Buck Jones Model, a "pump action" air rifle had the sundial and the compass in the stock...
Theres no actual Christmas Story Version with those options.
I wish someone had pictures of the 3 custom models they made for the movie so someone could make the parts.... anyway this is what I found about them

In the movie, young Ralphie Parker longs for "an official Red Ryder, carbine action, 200-shot, range model air rifle with a compass in the stock and this thing that tells time."
In reality, the Red Ryder rifle Ralphie described in the film didn’t exist; the Buck Jones model had the sundial and compass in the stock. However, Daisy accommodated filmmakers by producing three custom-made models for the movie.
I have one(the Red Ryder version). It's one of the "A Christmas Dream" guns and yes it does have a compass in the stock and this thing which tells time.
Mine is numbered 1349 of 1500. Just like Santa and the M&M guys...they do exist!
