Wow, if you live in Western Wisconsin, you can get this many covering your front door pretty much any sunny spring or fall day. I spray for these and boxelder bugs every year and they die in drifts around my house. I may have to start harvesting and selling them... I'm killing thousands of dollars in profit every years!

WHY WOULD ANYONE WANT THESE? they smell, they bite, and they get everywhere. That is, unless, they are true lady bugs, in which case then they are fine, but judging by the picture they are NOT Ladybugs, but instead the asian beetle. Move up to Minnesota or Wisconsin in the fall right before it gets cold and just find the neerest house and grab a vacuum cleaner, then go to their windows and suck them all up, the owner of the house would be more than happy to let you suck them up.

I HATE LADY BUGS (PS: never let one get in your mouth, you will regret it as you wont get the taste out for days)

Just want people to know that there is a drastic difference between the ladybugs we all know and love and the dreaded "Asian Ladybug". The asian ones will indeed bite and stink up something fierce when squished. I live in the midwest and lived in a house on the upper floor and my place was overrun by the asian ladybugs. If you need to get rid of these pests, make sure you get an exterminator who knows about the asian ones. Real ladybugs are great to handle and they WILL indeed kill off other bugs in your garden. So this is indeed a wonderful deal on true ladybugs.

"HIPPODAMIA CONVERGENS" is what the amazon description calls them - a species which wikipedia says is "one of the most common lady beetles in North America." Doesn't sound like scary Asian ladybugs to me.

I looked up the asian lady beetles and wikipedia goes fairly indepth about'em. One way to tell the difference is to look at the pronotum(I assume thats the head) the asian beetles tend to have a 'W' or 'M' shape, and from the picutres at amazon they don't seem to have either though I'm no expert.

And while Asian beetles can be annoying, we had a great little ladybug farm full of them this winter and kept over 50 alive for months. A good project for kids.

Many years ago, I discovered that a co-worker had a bug phobia. Another guy and I spent HOURS catching maybe a dozen ladybugs to hide in his desk drawer (to hilarious effect). If only we'd been able to buy over FOUR THOUSAND live ladybugs from Amazon.com, he might still be in therapy today.
