ok...i'll bite
just ordered one, lets see how it works!
this is hilarious , I just might order one
No one would notice if the Browns were on.
Careful when using at the local sportsbar. Would you want to be caught changing channels around a bunch of drunk fans? (Don't get caught!!!)
This looks great! Got one!
Getting two for my cats. Monday Night Football will never be the same.
I have a similar one, but it's almost impossible for me to synch with the tvs. Pointing and clicking over and over, even "discreetly", gets to feeling very obvious...
I own two of these (bought from Thinkgeek a while back), they don't work very well at all
I had a watch like this in high school. It was amazing tech for the time.
Yeah my husband runs a sports bar. I may have to buy one just to drive him nuts.
Small and loads of fun.
I have one and it works great, but a lot of the TVs in national chain restaurants and stores are locked down from changing the channel via remote. I was able to turn off a Samsung TV at a Buffalo Wild Wings, but I could not change the channel. Works great on my Samsung at home though.
now, if only it would find my car keys
Has anyone ordered one of theses. If so what kind of shipping charges does this thing incur? Seems really small and should not be much to ship.
This would make sitting through meetings MUCH more enjoyable...
@iuse: almost $7 for shipping for 2
I had one of these a while back branded as the "ninja remote" it worked pretty good the distance was maxed at about 15ft if i was lucky and I also hear there are better and worse versions of this.
Why would anyone need this item other than for being a jerk?
$5.99 shipping for me. "Air Mail" was the only option. I was only able to see the shipping when I was almost checked out.
I didn't bite.
do you think it can control one of those chinese 7" indash double din dvd / gps media units ???
dealextreme.com has similar items for the same price with free shipping
crappy deal
yeah shippings gonna make that one not fly... too bad coulda been fun
So I have a similar remote and it really does work. Its slim design makes it perfect for covert holiday hooligan happenings. Enjoy!
I own one of these and it's great in bars when you want to change the TV but there's no remote to be found... works great anywhere- takes some practice getting the remote to configure and pickup the right tv signal but once it does, you're all set!
Haha, so now I know what to look for when the tv in the bar starts doing "its own thing".
I remember a long time ago there was a watch that did this. you could either search for the code till the TV responded or look the code up with the accompanying documents. a watch is much more secretive than a keychain dongle
It's funny how shipping can be twice the price of the product itself :(
@Kjoel1961: You let your cats change the channel? I would think you'd be tired of Animal Planet by now... lol
I have this one, got it a couple of years ago. Absolutely NO problem syncing, works great, battery lasts forever.
I purchased one of these spy remotes quite sometime ago from Think Geek. The gadget was much more expensive at that time, so this is certainly a good deal.
Some notes on the practical usage of this device. This is NOT a "TV Be Gone" - you have to scan and find the right codes to operate a TV. So you can only control one TV at a time. The scanning can take a while, even minuets. It doesn't seem to work with every TV, most, but not all of them. The range is far less then I anticipated, in fact at times I feel like I have to be on top of the TV. Depending on the angle, you have to be close enough to touch it.
In addition to the technical limitations the device is not overly stealthy either, this is evident when you point directly at a TV, moving around, etc. It is hard to hide, and the restaurant will start to ask about it.
Aside from some of the technical and logistical issues the device is fun. For this price, it is worth the price, if for nothing more than a spare remote.
This looks awesome - I love annoying family and friends
Could be fun, till I get caught.
@iuse: $5.99 shipping
@Cheshiremoe: Works great at BWW for confusing staff members. One of these days they might connect my showing up with widespread TV mayhem...my local BWW uses all LG for their TV's...works great.
I ordered a bunch of these from ThinkGeek at about $9 so this is a reall y good deal.
You press the Mute button and release it. Then the unit cycles though all the manufacturer's codes. When the sound mutes press the mute button again.
You now have control over the TV and can mute, change channels, increase the sound to deafening levels. It even has an AV input button so you can use it with most HDTVs and other TVs that have multiple input channels.
shipping 2 to NY costs $7 (only available shipping method is AirMail). as people have said these don't work too well, and shipping is 200% the original price, i'm going to pass.
@Steve Frawley: thanks for the heads up
I got one of those from DealExtreme before, it doesn't really work that great, you have to point it directly at the Reader so everyone can see what your doing
All you have to do is AIM the remote at the TV while HOLDING DOWN the
MUTE button. When the TV MUTES, quickly release the button. Your
remote is now synced up with 'that' TV. So easy a caveman could do it
or even a warthog. (wagging tail)
These are perfect for the gym.
