Anyone know how to install apps to SD card in 2.1?

My Samsung Vibrant has more processing power, better memory and the latest Android OS. There is a flood of cheap tablets coming in from China that have specs better than this.

@drchops

A friend picked up an Augen tablet (600MHz, 256MB) for $100 at Christmas time and the thing is dismal. It takes several minutes to do anything such as simply open a web page. In just about everything it does, it is way underpowered with not enough memory. We installed Angry Birds (about 30MB) and it ran out of memory.

This was all the first day out of the box. The idea of the Augen looks great on paper with each function. But the implementation is awful and makes the device simply unusable.

I bought one of these from buy.com and ended up returning it. It is so slow and unresponsive it will frustrate you more than anything else.

@bsmith1: Out of the box, you can't until 2.2. :(

@bsmith1: yeah you download app2sd from the market

Most of the Tablets, you can just load the file to the SD Card and install straight from it.

Waiting for a deal on a micro SD so I can root my NC. I haven't used either but from my reading, the NC is far better for the $$.

I would stay away from a resistive touch screen. They're crap. You want capacitive (iPhone, iPod, pretty much every Android phone, etc).

There won't be any multi-touch on this device and you'll probably want a stylus to get anything done.

Beyond that ... yeah there's a flood of cheap/crappy Chinese knock off tablets out there and I would just stay away from them. You can get a full-blown Apple iPad (first gen) for $350 from the Apple site right now. Save a little extra and buy something that actually works as advertised.

@bsmith1: pretty sure you can not load apps to the sd with android 2.1 this function started with android 2.2

I still want to buy a Nook Color and root it, some day soon I hope. If Netflix ever figures out the DRM I would buy the Nook Color that same day.

BTW Woot should add code to their server to block all the cheap tablets.

@rich5665: Samsung and latest version don't belong in the same sentence lol I would know I have a Captivate :D

The wife uses an even cheaper model than this and likes the experience.

The people who insist that so-and-so is better than X (even though so-and-so costs 2-5X) just don't get it. If I wanted to spend 2-5X, I understand that there are better choices but that's a different market.

This product and others have a place in the $75-150 range for people that don't want to spend more than that.
