You can use this to keep an eye on woot-offs while you make your commute or if you're heading on a trip. Yes you would need a laptop too.

I have one of these.
It works pretty good. I use it to charge the batteries for my camera.

I've had two of these and they kept burning out on longer road trips. And by burn out I do mean literally - melting plastic smell and shorted out my dashboard. X_X

@mistypaw: did you have the correct wattage unit or did you try and draw more than the unit could put out?

Because I have had plenty of these over the years and run into no issues like that.

@jeus - honestly, i'm not sure what the recommended outtage for the cars lighter area is. all i knew is i plug it in and expected it to do it's thing. which it did... for the first few hours. so maybe it would be fine if people like me check their wattage stuff.
