I have this and like it. For <$200, it's pretty good. Just got the OTA to Honeycomb. A little laggy, but not "I'd-spend-a-couple-hundred-more-to-get-rid-of-it" laggy.

For more details, Woot sold this same deal 13 days ago & here's the April 7, 2012 forum link for it below . . .

Great tab for the money. I love mine. On the pro side, excellent resolution so movies look great, decent performance despite it using only a single core processor, good-not-great battery life and excellent sound for a tablet. Downside is the lack of internal memory makes it very limited without a microSD card, the camera is a joke and the viewing angles are pretty poor, especially when youy consider it is made by a company whose primary business is LCD TVs.

I forgot to add one of the biggest pluses...the I/R remote and included app function work on about 95% of consumer devices and set up is very easy.

bad time for me to not have extra funding for this

My wife just bought this tablet from woot. It's her first tablet and she loves it. A little research has suggested that it's not possible install apps on the SD card, however, because of the file mounting system, so the onboard memory may become an issue. But because of the smooth video playback and Google Android marketplace access, it's a great deal for anything sub $200.

Took advantage of the deal a few weeks ago and already had to RMA it. In order for my pc to recognize the tablet or for the tablet to charge, I had to place something under the cable for it to make contact. The USB port is loose and I hope my replacement doesn't have the same issue. :/

This is a nice little tablet. The Honeycomb update really improved battery life and functionality of the unit. Along with that update came some updates to the already nice display too. The folio case bundle I got at Sam's, without the HDMI cable was just under $40, so this makes for a really good package price. It's not the fastest tablet on the market, but well worth the money for lighter or more casual use.

If Woot has this many tablets in their warehouse lately, the next BOC ought to be awesome.

I have one of these in addition to a couple of others in the family. This one is my personal tablet. I like the form factor, works good for my feeble eyes without having to go all the way to a 10 inch tablet. As the other rviewers said, it can be laggy, but it does do everything I want and the video is very good quality. The only actual weakness is the MicroUSB connector, it is poorly placed so it easy to bend when it is plugged in and it slips to a hard surface like your desk or table - happened to me. Mine works okay yet, but I could see how that may get damaged if you are not aware of it. Got mine on an earlier woot for a similar price, very good bang-for-the-buck, especially comparing to knock-offs around the same price point.

Just an FYI - it seems Vizio has very lax standards for their "recertified" products. I ordered one of these a couple weeks ago & both the micro usb port & the headphone jack were broken on arrival, resulting in it being very hard to charge & none of the external speakers working. I'm of the opinion that things that obvious should be caught in the "recertifying" process. From the sound of it, there were several shipped in similar or worse condition. Bottom line: from what I've seen this is a good deal for a tablet with this functionality - the screen is great & the remote control & GPS features are really cool. HOWEVER, be prepared to have to return the first one (and possibly the second, though I'm crossing my fingers!). As such, there's no way I'd even consider purchasing this as a gift.

Anyone else have Flash issues after the update? I had issues with Flash on Dolphin (videos played, badly, but I had no control-pause, fullscreen) , tried to update from 10 to 11, was blocked, sideloaded 11, but it only works right in the stock browser. It's super jumpy in Dolphin.

Thanks!

I think you're probably better off getting a recertified nook or kindle fire for this price, assuming you don't mind a little hackery.

^Faster, but the features don't compare.

@portezbie: Why do you say that? I just returned a Nook Tablet 8gb. There's no root that I could find, and no way to sideload apps. Therefore, there are basically no free apps, and none of the apps I already bought for my android phone could install.

I am considering buying a Kindle fire or this, but it seems like this will be less effort. What makes the Kindle better?

I like it except for the screen viewing angles. The screen is wide enough that the colors change when you use it normally. It makes me appreciate the Nook and Kindle Fire even more.

The refurbishment process removes scratches by using some sort of scratch polish resin that flakes off. Mine was okay since the scratches were on the bezel and not the viewable screen area.

The Kindle Fire does not have Bluetooth, microSD, HDMI, nor GPS. Really, it is not in the same class as a tablet like this one.

@fuzi719: agreed. It puzzles me every time someone brings that up

I got two the last time these appeared and really like them a lot. It would be nice if it was stock Honeycomb; about the only thing I don't like is the launcher, but I tried Go Launcher EX and liked it less (a little too aggressive). Also, before I upgraded it from Gingerbread, the wi-fi had no trouble reconnected after sleeping; now I have to shut off wi-fi, wait 10 or 15 seconds, and reconnect. But beyond that, they're really nice units.

My tablets' screens do not have any problems as some described above. I've used both Cool Reader to read and SlingPlayer to watch my Tivo remotely quite a bit, so I've gotten a lot of screen time, and there aren't any bad angles whether I'm holding it in my lap or hands or have it propped up using the kickstand case.

looks like a lot of people from the previous woot got some damaged tablets. Anyone received this one yet? Reviews or comments about it? Hopefully Vizio got their act together this time around and they are actually refurbished rather than shipped without quality control.

vote-for1vote-against

sure, I finally have some extra cash where I could buy it and it is sold out. @brutherford, any chance there is one extra lying around that can be sold?

USB port on mine just crapped out. Contacting VIZIO for a remedy.
