Folks, I've got to say, this is an awful razor. Save your money for a more democratic razor. Down with the monarchy!

@okham: I concur with this. I just received mine in the mail. It works, but it doesn't feel like angels are whisking your whiskers away. Bummed!

I rarely ever shave, since I have a beard most the time. So when I go to buy more/new razors the price always seems to jump 2$ or so for the replacements.

Most recently(and by this I mean 4 months ago) I spent about 2.00$ after using a coupon for a 6 pack of disposable womens razors. They got the job done(and really only have used about 3) but I aimed high and went in for 3 for these. That will last me so long...

Now I'm just hoping that they won't be too bad as the previous two people stated.

Can't be worse than womens disposables...right?

I fully disagree with the naysayers. This is the smoothest, most comfortable shave I've had in my life. The shave is very close and has never once cut me yet. I sometimes wake up late and have to go into full speed shave mode. Traditionally, I would have been torn to shreds for what I can easily get away with on this razor, plus it gives a closer shave.

To be totally honest, the downsides of this (and frankly, any 5-blade razor) are that it can clog a bit between a couple of the blades if you do not tap frequently. Also, it is rather difficult to get just under your nose. Those pesky few hairs tend to stay standing after the battle is over.

If you have a thin beard, this might work for you. Otherwise, do not buy this as the pressure and glide is worse than a disposable.

vote-for9vote-against

Yes, these are terrible. No, you don't want to buy them.

I love this razor. I owned a Mach III and it took some getting used to. This razor is no different. It took about a week to get comfortable with the design. Wash your face to remove the oils before you shave and a blade will last 3-6 months. Get a InterDesign Fog Away Suction Mirror on Amazon. It compliments this razor.

Sorry, these SUCK! I thought "hey they're cheap, and have lots of refills" so even if they weren't that great, you could get a couple of shaves out of each cartridge. But the razor has two rubber legs that hold the head, and they flex, so it's nearly impossible to get the blades to hold against your face. Your have to use your finger on the back of the cartridge and push to get it to shave closely. That's why these are everywhere for $8 with so many refills. Look in the photos- the two white stripes near the top are rubber, not plastic. The photo of the package shows the back- that white plastic strip is where you have to put your finger and push against your face. These are practically useless...

Yes these razors are horrible absolutely the worst I have ever used including disposable. I wouldn't even use these in my bug out bag.

Agreed with almost everything said above. Im a value hunter (like the rest of you presumably, if you are on this website) and the razors were so bad, that i had to throw the rest of the razors away after i used the first one and it hurt so bad. I use the fusion power and the mach three turbo power. I have a thick hair on my face and hate shaving in general but i have a job and have to shave every two days. I tried shaving with these things after not shaving for four days. Wasn't happening. Then i tried shaving the next day and it was better because i wasn't dealing with much to shave, and it still was painful. After that, i threw the rest away. If you are semi-sensitive to shaving, BUYER BEWARE!!!!

I agree with the naysayers. I have a thick beard. With the grain it leaves stubble, and against the grain it snags. It's not nearly as good as the Gillette Pro glide.

A shave deal?
Time to make the obligatory post about converting to traditional wetshaving with a safety razor, proper soap/cream, and a brush!

You can have mine if you're in the Tampa Bay area. drive by and I'll throw them in your window. poor poor design.

I wouldn't wish these on my worst enemy. I bought them when Woot was selling them as a main deal a while back. Since then I have hated myself everytime I've attempted to shave with them.

I too read all the naysayer's opinions and thought, "They can't be that bad right?" Oh I assure you, they can be that bad and worse.

Just the other day I did a little experiment, my girlfriend has been using a Mach 5 razor for about a month now on her legs and underarms and ah hem girly bits. I took out a new King of Shaves blade (which I should note, I need a new one after about 2 or 3 shaves if that) and did one side of my face and then the other with the month old Mach 5. The side that was done with the Mach 5 felt much smoother and less irritated than that of the side with the new blade. And before you say anything, I am using a shave gel, in fact I am using the King of Shaves gel that the blade recommends.

Long story short, don't waste your money, even cheaper they aren't worth it.

It's the "Woot that wouldn't die"

I finally have a theory, think the company has a dog on their hands and are attempting to dump as much of the badly designed razor for shaving men's faces.

Only bright side, got duped be the hype and bought 3. After nearly hacking myself to death for a week, gave them to two lady friends at the office. They say they are great for legs especially in the shower. So are they totally useless...not quite TOTALLY. However if you are a man looking to get a good shave cheaply, I'd suggest a pass. Value is only value if you can use what you buy. Fortunately for me, I finally found a GREAT place to buy inexpensive razors that compete with the big boys. Try dorco.com
I got 28 razors and a handle for 26$ and free shipping. They are comparable to Schick and Gillette at a fraction of the cost. Thanks Woot for helping me heal my wounds and pride after falling for this loser.
When Woot offers this multiple times with bad reviews for every one, STAY AWAY!

@stryker4526: Yeah, I pay about 8 cents a blade for my double-edged razors, and there's almost no waste to end up in the landfill.

vote-for1vote-against

Bought a while back on woot. Wouldn't take them if they were free.

vote-for1vote-against

@markriddle: Thanks for the tip. After buying these ripoffs, I'm not willing to buy a large quantity. I just bought the razor ar dorcousa.com for $8 shipped, which is one razor and two blades. If I'm satisfied, I will definitely start buying $25 worh at a time.

I have been using the Fusion, which is great, but, not only are the blades very expensive, the blades don't seem to last very long.

Most reviewers say thar the Dorcousa.com blades are comparible, so it's worth a shot.

But, these Remington blades hit the trash can after two uses. I can't believe they are still being sold. I guess Amazon and Woot believe in "there's Sucker born every minute." Heck, I was one of the suckers!

vote-for1vote-against

Wow. So much hate!

I bought three of these when they were on a WootOff, and they're fine.

They aren't -quite- as good as my Fusion III, but the price difference makes it insane to buy Fusion II cartridges when I have these.

They've never cut me, even when having to "speed shave", and they provide a very close shave when you use them right. (If you're applying much pressure - especially so much that you feel compelled to push with your finger behind the blade as described by a previous poster - then you aren't using them right.)

The quality of shave matches my Fusion III. The comfort of the process isn't quite up to snuff, but it's far from painful.

Three of these is a very long term supply for me. But when I eventually run out, I'll be hoping to find this deal is still around.

vote-for1vote-against

I have to agree with most of the comments I have read. I shave my head so I have a lot of different shaped surfaces to get. I have yet to get a shave that dosen"t require some additional shaving with a different razor when I get out of the shower. As with others, I felt at the price and the number of blades you get with the deal, how far can you go wrong. I am trying to convince my wife this is the razor for her. Or just give it up as a bad effort.

vote-for1vote-against

As a man who's been shaving his head for 7 years and tried EVERY razor on the market... these HAVE to be the all time WORST! I purchased them on another site and it took TWO blades to give me one decent shave.
Ironically I was at Walgreen's recently and noticed it was a "clearance item" there... no wonder. Incidentally, the best I've ever found is the Schick Hydro 5, Grab em with a coupon and buy them on sale to get a decent deal, they rinse off fantastic and last me two months each blade!..

vote-for1vote-against

Yeah, should have known, just a little to good be true. They dont cut me at all, which is surprising because i rush while shaving with these. I go upsidedown, sideways, all kinds of ways in an attempt to get a decent shave with these and get half the hairs it misses first time around.

Again, if you have any you want to get rid of, PM me and we can discuss logistics. BTW, I live in the Chicagoland area.

I,M 70 YEARS OLD AND HAVE BEEN SHAVING FOR MANY YEARS, THIS IS BY FAR THE BEST SHAVE I HAVE EVER GOT ,THE LAST BLADE I USED WAS A FUSION III, MY FACE FILLS LIKE A BABIES BEHIND WHEN I FINSH SHAVING. I FIND SOME OF THESE REVIEWS HARD TO BELIEVE.
THEY MUST BE PUT OUT BY SOME OF THESE OTHER SHAVING COMPANIES. GIVE THEM A TRY YOU WILL LOVE IT.
