This might be a deal if you've never read the books, if you have read the books you'll probably throw it out after you watch it once.
Are they ever going to make the rest of this movie? I mean... assume one hasn't read the books, the movie's not terrible, but it doesn't end. It's one part of a tale that hasn't been finished yet.
@tygerdave: I've read the books and I like the movies, you just have to keep in mind that a movie is never going to follow a book exactly.
What? Are you people serious? The movie was freaking horrible. I hope they don't make any more and can't believe they made the move to Blu-Ray.
I liked this movie a lot back when it was called Star Wars and had spaceships instead of dragons.
I haven't read the books, but let me guess... in part two, our young jedi -- er, I mean Dragonrider -- seeks the help of an old master to learn how to use his new powers?
@pyabo: FAIL. That happened in part 1.
@eneref: Even bigger fail for watching part 1.
@tygerdave: Good, I've got a plan now. Throw it out after watching it, just like I threw out the book after reading it.
@shinespark: The book and the movie were a big hit with my daughter's classmates. Was it ever intended for adults?
@glindagw: Um, not really. The author wrote the book when I was 11. He was 13. (Actually he completed the book when he was 16).
It's not a bad book for scifi/fantasy fans who want a light, simple read. Other than that, the plot and character developments are a tad weak (okay, it was written by a teenager) and shouldn't be examined too carefully.
PASS. I hate this movie. Read the books, they're awesome!
