This is not a "sale" per se, they have had free Federal returns for a couple of years. I used them for BOTH my state and Fed returns and paid the 'upgrade' to premium for a total of $17.95 for both! I e-filed Feb 4th and have both my refunds already! I COULD have gotten away with just $9.95 for the state, but opted to take the extra audit help. I also used them last year. Before that it was H&R Block online.

NOTE TO H&R BLOCK: When the IRS links to you for 'free file' and you go through the whole process, and get to the check out page, and your site says "Free Tax Return: $27.95" That kind of defeats the purpose of "Free"! Plus all your hype over doing the 1040EZ for free- IT'S 3 FRIGGIN' LINES! Anyone who can't see it's a scam to get you in is probably too stupid to fill it out anyhow...

That's why I've used Taxact.com for the last two years.

I think you're confusing TaxACT with TaxCut (which is now H&R Block @home). TaxACT is made by 2nd Story Software.

You're right, it's not really a sale, but it's still a deal.
