I just bought a nice set of Klipsch speakers but I have yet to buy a receiver. I wonder how well this receiver works. Anyone know?

@renstoy88

What do you mean 'how well it works'.

A receiver has to provide enough power to drive your speakers.

The less sensitive/efficient your speakers are (often can be read: the cheaper your speakers are) the more powerful a receiver you will need. This one does 75 watts a channel @ 8ohms, 110 watts @ 6ohms. This is OK, not huge, but should be enough for most things a tyro is up to.

A receiver has to be able to decode your chosen signals.

This one can do all the standards, including the HD ones-- Dolby Digital Plus, DTS-HD, and Dolby TrueHD. Unlikely to find a problem with its features here.

A receiver has to be able to take all your inputs and show them on the output.

Here's where this one kind of sucks.

In this pic of the back you see you get 4 hdmi ins and 1 out. That's about it- one vestigial optical and digital coax. Hope you don't have any component video sources!

not the best reviews for this company. We are currently dealing with them on an issue and it isnt looking too good.

@lordzappo: Thank you for all the good information. I see what you mean about component video sources. This is a deal-breaker for me. Oh well... The search continues.
