Argh, I had been waiting for Woot to sell this model to replace my K100D, but couldn't wait any longer and went with the K200D. Anyway, not a bad deal at all for a new camera, considering this is discontinued and tough to find. Typically used K7's will go for slightly higher than this - the only place I could find new is at Henry's which lists over $1000.
As stated in the DPR review, this has fantastic ergonomics, two-dial control, a bright viewfinder, weather sealing; all in body more compact than its K20D predecessor. Unique to Pentax will also be the green button (in M-mode sets exposure according to the program line) and TAv mode (shutter-aperture priority - shifts the ISO), both very nifty features to have in a SLR. Note that this uses a Samsung sensor (similar to the one in the K20D), which is good, but not as nice as the Sony CMOS in the new K5. This has me rethinking my recent moofi purchase of the K200D, but I think I will wait for the K5 to come down.
@egadog: Good comment. I noted this in the comments on the refurb, but the new body alone is about $800 elsewhere (B&H). Not a great deal here, not a bad deal either. Still kicking myself on the K20 they had good while back, but back then, I wasn't sure what I was actually buying in the model line.
The performance of the K5 seems pretty worthwhile if you're spending this much already. Body is about $1,350 I think. K5 pricewise is like a K7 plus a nice lens, and what I've read on the K5, the upgrades from the K7 particularly the sensor are worth it.
