440A isn't one of the top, "in", steels and my first thought was this looks cool but is junk. But I searched a bit and 440A is a solid economy choice. E.g: Knife Steel FAQ (at http://zknives.com/knives/articles/knifesteelfaq.shtml#440A) says it's fine for everyday use and has good rust resistance. SOG's heat treatment of 440A is specifically called out as well done.

I just received my order and the effects, reel & clicker, are cool. For $13, I'm glad I got one. However, this won't get carried or used. The decorative bits would catch on pockets & bags and I'd choose to carry a simpler, more functional knife when I carry one.
