An off lease PC can be a good cheap way to get off Windows XP before Microsoft kills security patches in a couple months, 4/8/2014.

Optiplex stuff is solid business grade hardware. But a potential concern - not sure about TigerDirect's refitting of off-lease PCs. In case of a lemon, needs to be easy to swap out.

For $10 more, this looks like better deal http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=8573169&csid=_61 300Mhz faster and it has open PCI Express slots (the Dell mights as well, but the specs don't mention it. ) However, the small form factor likely makes finding a discreet video card more difficult.

@dongrier: 'never seen one of those Lenovo's in the real world - have no idea whether it would be solid. Whereas, there are hundreds of thousands of those Dell Optiplex's still very happily running.

And this older hardware might not be a good foundation for major upgrades anyway. These specs as is will run Windows 7 for average functions in snappy fashion. It would be nice if it were Windows 7 Professional tho.
