I've been pleased with this. I think I got it cheaper during a gold box deal earlier this year, but still not a bad price. The traffic is only for major metro areas so check the garmin website to see if your area is covered. The traffic info is sent via a radio signal that is picked up by an antenna in the power cord. You'll also get little advertisements, but they really are no big deal.
My favorite feature is the traffic icon (when receiving) will show green, yellow or red and tell you the estimated total delay time along your route. If you tap the icon it will give you the option to detour around the traffic and everytime I've used that feature it has worked well. Sometimes the traffic lags, but for the most part it works good.
You get a one time free map update within 90 days (I think) of initial power-up. The touch pad can be a little picky sometimes when typing, but not a deal breaker. Also, the lane assist feature is cool but only appears at random, multi-lane transitions.
