They are nice to have but be careful with the pestle as it will break easier than you think.

This may be just the thing to grind down your "special ingredient" to a fine paste, before adding it to the batter for your "special" brownies...

Can you use this for cannabis?

It's really best to infuse your "herbs" in oil in a saucepan for a while then strain them out with cheesecloth and use the oil in your recipe as normal. Otherwise it has an unappealing texture and can extract more "flavor".
You can buy a mortar and pestle at an asian food store for really cheap, too.

Not sure how the size compares, but just picked up one of these (very similar in appearance) for $9 at Ikea yesterday. May or may not have been granite, but it felt to be good quality.

Saw a white porcelain one the other day at Christmas Tree Shop for $1.99. Not as good as granite, but certainly can't beat the price.

@waltz4themoon: pft. If there's one thing I learned in high school, it's that oil doesn't work for such a mellow recipe. Butter, preferably of the coconut variety, only.

This looks just like the one I got at Ikea for $9.
