Philips Wireless PC Game Controller for $7.99 + shipping
No thank you, sirs. I play PC games the old-fashioned way: with the keyboard. So what if I lose all the time?
Moofi... Well that's new O_O
Yeeeeeaaaah.....
What? When did that happen? And will it continue?
Not that I need yet another thing to keep me up past midnight for.
KDW
@wend0144: Well they didn't continue WootOffKiller so I doubt it :/
@shawnmiller: The favicon hasn't been linked to from the moofi.woot frameset and doesn't display.
@chris12345: Shut it down!
@shawnmiller: Needs to be. Favicons are absolutely critical, and it's not just that it isn't visble in one browser, it isn't visible in ANY browser. This is the worst technical mishap since, like, ever.
HMmmmmm....... i smell conspiracies brewin.... or maybe its just coffee..
hopefully this will be better than my keyboard and mouse, i guess you give and take between the controller and traditional pc gaming.
About this game controller from the Philips web site:
Question
Is my gaming accessory compatible with Windows 7 ?
Answer
Generally, if the accessory operates with Windows XP or Windows VISTA, then it should operate with Windows 7. Unfortunately, this accessory has been discontinued and an updated Windows 7 driver is not planned.
@chris12345: what is so important about a favicon? I don't get it. Plenty of websites that I visit don't have them.
I have a similarly designed controller (literally the same in all but name) and it's a P.O.S.
Invest a little more money in a 360 controller for your PC instead.
@hobbit: I'm embarrassed that I had to look up what a favicon is. Now that I know, I agree with you.
@hobbit: In act one, above, I was reporting a minor issue. In act two, above, I was comically overreacting to it, because everyone knows it's absurd to get so worked up over a favicon, right? Yeah, no one would ever take it THAT seriously.
@chris12345: Sorry. My excuse is I haven't had coffee yet.
@chris12345: Check your private messages. Seriously woot needs a PM notification system.
I wouldn't have bought it from a woot-alike copycat, even if they were giving a kickback to Woot... but when I saw that it is Woot, I broke out the plastic.
I know exactly what to expect from Woot -- not much, but in a good way. I just can't bring myself to break in another online stuff seller. Woot, why can't I quit you?
In for one, and now looking for some rechargeable AAAs.
I guess I'll be the Guinea Pig to report whether or not it really does work on Windows 7. :P
Honestly, you shouldn't bother with this.
The build quality is poor, the drivers are bad, and the controller just feels cheap. It also has issues with signal quality even if you're just two feet away.
@vinithehat: Thanks!
Well that is sure a poor review. We'll see how it goes D: / =P
@hawkian: remember you paid 8.00 for it plus 5.00 shipping. What do you expect, it is cheap ;)
:D
Well its MSRP is $40 so I thought this was a decent deal. If the worst happens and it truly sucks, I suppose $13 ain't the worst I could've spent.
so windows 7 yes or not?
@hawkian: 13 is probably its true value :D
For the record, I thank @shawnmiller for sneaking me in the back door called Moofi, and I'm NOT following the dress code! Muahahahaha!
This looks to be like the sucky PS3 controller. The 360 controller is much more ergonomic, IMO....and I'm not slamming Sony because I have both consoles.
However, I'd take the PS3 controller over a keyboard and mouse for ease of use any day.
I know, I know, the mouse is more accurate. I agree, but the keyboard is difficult to use and negates the precision of the mouse IMO.
Don't bother. I've got this exact controller and it just doesn't play well. Sometimes my controller just wont connect right, when I need to reconnect it I can't actually do it any other way than to pull the USB connector out of the PC and plug it back in.
When I tried playing the Wolverine game with it I had to get a third party program to remap the keys so that the controller would work right. (The axis for the joysticks were mixed up)
Also while playing NFS Undercover and other games it will sometimes just flat out REFUSE to process a button push. This can cause a huge problem at key moments.
Get a RumblePad 2! It's so much better and I've never had any problems with it.
@chris12345: Ok, you got your favicon.
@shawnmiller: That's beautiful.
@shawnmiller: Huzzah! I'm most impressed by the upside down one day one deal, however. Well done.
Works great on win7 as it turns out, after inital setup which is best done with a bowl of cereal on hand or so.
I just bought this, and it's a piece of junk. I haven't had any connection problems, but the stick sensitivity is awful (less than half-tilt counts as full tilt) so precision is out the window, the D-pad is glitchy and reads adjacent inputs all the time, and the vibration motors don't work at all.
DO NOT BUY! It's no good for anything, definitely not worth the $13.
I would get a 360 controller, but I really wanted something with a decent D-pad so I could play Super Mario Crossover. No modern controller has a usable D-pad :(
