Has anyone actually tried Bacon Salt? I love bacon. I love salt. With those powers combined... is it taste-tastically awesome?

vote-for2vote-against

I bought this two woot-off's ago. I got the peppered and the original. I have only opened the peppered. It smells and tastes a lot like the artificial bacon bits. It adds a smoky bacon flavor to mashed potatoes, and everything else. I am on a diet, and cannot eat bacon, making everything else taste like bacon is a whole lot healthier, at least in moderation.

I bought a 4 flavor set from amazon a while back, and it does add a bacony flavor. I like them, the pepppered being my favorite.

I'm a big fan of bacon, and I'm a big fan of salt. Unfortunately, I think I'm too picky about both. Very rarely I'll get it tasting right, usually I'll get it tasting not enough like bacon, then add some more, and then it'll taste like too much salt. I'd suggest not going overboard and just try a single flavor out to see if you think it's worth trying the rest.

I canceled the order when I saw $6.34 shipping. WOW!!

Check your local grocery store. I noticed mine was selling this stuff with the rubs and other meaty spices. I'm in Indiana, which is practically middle of nowhere, so for our Kroger to carry it prolly means it's elsewhere too. Save a couple of bucks for shipping. The stuff makes great gis, if nothing else. The bacon salt itself is not bad at all-especially if you're on a diet.

I am in GA and we have one or two of the varieties at my local Kroger. I think it was around $3-4.

My son is away at school at loves it on his ramen noodles. (shudder)

vote-for3vote-against

This stuff is great seasoning. I love it on a burger it's sooooo baconyyy. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

vote-for2vote-against

This is just a novelty food item. You will never need to buy more than one. I have had mine for 4 months and have used it once. I'd rather eat real bacon--the pre cooked stuff is just as easy to add to food.

Bacon salt on Ramen noodles? Now there's a sodium overdose in the making!

vote-for2vote-against

Keep hearing about this stuff....is it really any good?

vote-for1vote-against

So is this just sodium packed sodium?

vote-for4vote-against

I rather enjoy bacon salt. You can't put real bacon on popcorn and get the same result. It's great on pizza.

Go to baconsalt.com and you can find local grocery stores that carry it.

My son is a Baconaholic and loves the salt and the pepper versions! I've mixed it in with burgers and it does add a good smokey bacon flavor.

vote-for2vote-against

This stuff is great. When the taste of bacon is wanted without fat you can't go wrong. Putting it on Pizza? I hadn't thought of that. Someones having pizza for dinner tonight!

vote-for2vote-against

Health Note... It's loaded with MSG, so pick your poison wisely. I'll take the fat over that.

vote-for2vote-against

how great is a site that has a 2TB external hard drive and then two items latter a container of bacon salt? I love you woot!

vote-for2vote-against

Ordered it and the variety pack. It ain't bacon, but what other than bacon is? Good stuff.

vote-for3vote-against

This seems like a dietitian's nitemare - MSG, salt, bacon... ugh!

vote-for2vote-against

Shipping kills it, plus I think this is available for like 6-7 bucks at a local place. Otherwise, who doesn't need bacon salt?

This is actually a cool site I never know existed.....

vote-for2vote-against

That is awesome! I so missed it on the last woot-off!

vote-for2vote-against

I also bought this off the last woot off. Taste great on fries. I also mixed in with hamburgers. Adds a nice flavor.

vote-for2vote-against

A friend of mine got a three pack of bacon salt from Woot and gave one to me. I don't really care for it. The bacon tastes synthetic.

vote-for2vote-against

This stuff has a pretty decent bacon flavor.

The hickory bacon salt is amazing.

It's like spanish smoked paprika with a hint of bacon.

It makes most dishes just a little bit better.

vote-for2vote-against

I recently picked this up at a local grocery store. I love it! I usually add it to salad. Like turn ranch into bacon ranch!

vote-for2vote-against

Mmmm... I love my Bacon Salt.

vote-for2vote-against

I actually like the peppered & hickory better than the original. I'm curious to try the maple. Giant carries it, if you have a Giant or Stop & Shop.

vote-for2vote-against

@scamp1972: That's a matter of opinion. I love it and use it like table salt.

vote-for2vote-against

this product is also kosher! my husband grew up with bacon, but now that we have a kosher kitchen, we dont eat bacon anymore. i am very excited to try this product!

vote-for1vote-against

My local grocery store carries it, and it's okay. Very good in chicken salad and macaroni salad.

vote-for2vote-against

I got some from woot a little while back. It's kinda strange. It definitely didn't taste quite like I expected it too but I still like it. It's more like bacon bits than bacon.

vote-for2vote-against

This is good for throwing on fries, in a burger, or other Americana cuisine...but don't pull anything too fancy with it - the artificial taste pulls through anything delicate.

vote-for2vote-against

Sign me up for putting it on my popcorn, two of MY favorite things..........bacon and popcorn!

vote-for2vote-against

This is the worst condiment, ever.

It does not, in any way, shape or form taste like bacon, much as you would wish it did.

It tastes like crushed-up Baco's, mixed with iodized salt. Which is what it should taste like, because that's what it is. There is no bacon in this product, so it can't taste like bacon.

It is truly vile and inedible crap. Save your $5.

vote-for2vote-against

I love bacon. No...seriously. I love bacon. Has anyone every overdosed on bacon salt and died of dehydration?

vote-for2vote-against

Bacon Salt is vegan so now EVERYONE can have bacon. :) We've used it to make popcorn bacon-y

vote-for1vote-against

I never used my bacon salt and now it's a big solid mass in a jar in my cabinet.

vote-for1vote-against

Never has there been something so glorious. I hear it's great on baked potatoes and french fries

vote-for1vote-against

This looks like one of the most fantastic things EVER.

vote-for1vote-against

Yup my Hy-Vee its a Midwest grocery store sells bacon salt, I've never tried it though....hmmm

vote-for1vote-against

My local midwest grocer also carries this, all varieties. For those spouting off about the "salt", it's actually low sodium, so it's better for you than straight salt.

Honestly, I eat this stuff on everything. Spaghetti, popcorn, potatoes of any flavor...and believe it or not, I even tried it on some nasty hard british cookies...made them taste like crispy bacon!

vote-for1vote-against

Bacon Salt is great for putting in soups, beans, chili's. It's good on popcorn too. Didn't add a lot of flavor to a grilled burger for some reason...

vote-for1vote-against

if you like "bacon" items.... check out Archie McPhee's in Seattle, WA.
