The list of movies and shows is a little over 2,000, so I think they consider each individual episode for every show to get the higher figure.

Awesome deal if you already were a member of Prime

If you use Amazon half as much as I do, this makes a great deal, even better!

All of these are on Netflix if you already have it -- and can spare yourself from Amazon's poorly designed sorting filters... I have Prime too, but I'm sticking to Netflix

Seeing as the Social Network is not a Prime Eligible Instant Watch Movie I think your image is a little misleading.

If you're already a prime user then this looks like a great deal but the lack of newer movies and tv shows that are prime eligible is making me wait a little longer to jump on.

This is not available to those with the free College Prime accounts, by the way.

@jeremytheindian: You can't add your own pics, you can only select from available options (when available). I got tired of invoking staff and asking them to change the picture (or add one in most cases). But feel free to do that yourself.

@thepenrod: Not trying to be a douche here but you could have selected "no image" but regardless congrats on being the first on to get this posted.

@jeremytheindian: I have prime free for a year... I plan on continuing to use prime after the free year expires, but I'm definitely not jumping on this until then. I agree it doesn't have too many worthwhile Movies/T.V. shows, but maybe it'll improve with time.

i like adding pictures, im gonna find the Faulty Towers pic.

This is Amazon's problem: There is nothing in there that is not on Netflix. Far more on 'Flix, plus disk delivery, for $8 a month. Sure, shipping is nice, but hard to know I'll do $80 worth and then, its not free is it.

vote-for3vote-against

I REALLY hope the selection will improve. This makes Netflix's streaming selection look even better than it is.

@jeremytheindian: I buy a lot of stuff on Amazon, and before they offered this was going to buy into prime. I saw this offer and I almost pulled the trigger.

Then I realized it wasn't their entire catalog, just selected stuff. My credit card went back into my wallet.

vote-for3vote-against

Only applies to PAID amazon prime memberships. If you got one from a student membership it won't work.

vote-for2vote-against

The list of available content is distinctly underwhelming. Unless you like public domain content and crapulent British shows.

vote-for5vote-against

That's pretty misleading. I'm supposed to have "Amazon Prime" because I'm a student.

But apparently I DON'T have "Amazon Prime"...I have "Kind of Pseudo Amazon GOOD."

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining...I'm happy I get the free shipping, but they should call it what it is; "Free Shipping for Students" heh..

But on the plus side, I can upgrade from Amazon Prime to Amazon Prime for only $80 bucks :)

This sweetens the deal on an already good membership from Amazon. Unfortunately, I cannot pull the trigger yet. I use Amazon for everything humanly possible. Basically everything except for food and clothes. I have the Amazon Visa and use it like crazy. But at the end of the day, the $80/annual fee just doesn't make sense. As we all know: spend $25 or more, get free super saver shipping, 90% of my orders arrive within a week with super saver. New releases typically ship early, so that they arrive on new-release-Tuesdays. I've ordered stuff around 2pm and it arrived the next day. I understand the 'gotta have it now' feeling, but $80 a year is a bit much for the gain.

@pleepleus: I've ordered both food and clothes of Amazon, you should try it.

Dried goods especially are cheap. You can order quite a bit of cereal at bargain basement prices.

The count is likely to include individual TV episodes, which would certainly put it over the 5000 mark. Lots of Dr. Who, MI-5, Primevil, some awesome shows. Tks for the heads up. I've been prime member for several years, saves a ton of $ when sending little presents to family and friends. Means I can send a $4 book to a niece or a $6 dog toy for my dad to use to play with his dog when they're feeling down. Love Prime and well worth it if you get little gifts for people all year like I do.

Be very careful clicking around if you are a Prime Student member. Even if you don't have 1-Click setup, it will still charge you just by clicking through. There is no opportunity to change your card, and it will NOT use your gift card balance to pay for the membership.

@skyzophrenyk: was wondering what it does for students since I didnt pay for my prime membership

vote-for1vote-against

@pleepleus: Simple solution: Starting eating at Amazon.com.

Also, start only sporting Amazon.com gear. Now you have a reason to get Prime.

Oh, and start watching more movies - all from Amazon.com. Even if you don't like them, watch anyways - to maximize your raw synergy potential. Squared.

Problem solved.

@waldoshi: Netflix with discs is not $8 a month. Wasn't even $8 a month before the recent price hike. Not sure where you pulled that figure from... I personally find Prime is a great deal. When shipping is a minimum of $3-$5 for pretty much anything, I've already paid for well over 3/4 of that membership in the first month and a half of the year with what I have ordered that was shipped for free due to my Prime status. Plus, this keeps me from buying as much stuff that I don't NEED because I don't have to add filler to get to the $25+ free shipping total. The streaming content for free is just an added bonus.

Without having read all of the prior comments (because I'm incurably lazy), it bears mention that if you're a student with a .edu e-mail address you can get this for free. Just look up Amazon Student.

vote-for4vote-against

I think it's about time somebody pointed out that this benefit is for PAID Amazon Prime memberships ONLY. Free Amazon Mom and Student accounts won't get it. Sheesh, you'd think the OP would mention these kind of important details.

vote-for4vote-against

I want to know when Prime will start covering Woot shipping!

vote-for2vote-against

@johncgresham As Mr. PenRod said, Amazon Student members don't get this service. Gotta pay the 79 bucks.
