Anybody know if this works as a webcam?
got one of these on a previous woot for this price. been very satisfied with it. I mainly use it for recording wildlife and the zoom works great for that. The pocket size also makes it very convenient for carrying when you're not sure whether you'll need it or not.
The only issue I've noticed is that it seems to have trouble focusing when your in low light and close to what you're recording. like less than 5 feet and dusk lighting which doesn't seem to be much problem in regular use.
some clips I took at the San Antonio Zoo a while back:

This isn't a good deal, with a quick google search I found one thats $ 10 cheaper. http://www.frys.com/product/6547573?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG
The recording time table doesn't seem correct to me. Assuming that SD
means standard definition and HD means high definition, how can HD have
more recording minutes than SD?
Can someone also explain what SF/F/N mean in this regard? For photos
I understand super-fine/fine/normal but how do these apply to video?
For reference, I've been looking at the user manual, pg 33

its .mp4 format
This is a nice camera but it doesn't have a jack for an external microphone is that's of any importance to you. For that you would need something along the lines of an Samsung HMX20C.
Keeping it simple. I have a friend that bought one of these, for about 10 dollar more than this. He was very happy with it. I'd recommend this.
What video file format does this thing do? I'm thinking of getting it for my Father-in-law, and he's not exactly tech savvy...
Thanks for the reviews of the camera! Your videos show were cool too.
Picked up two of these in a previous Woot for the same price. Good camera. I've been satisfied with the quality of the video for the price, for sure.
Here are a few sample videos I've taken.

One bummer was that a couple weeks ago one of them hit some kind of major software bug that caused the camera to become completely unresponsive to the menu button or the record button, and it wouldn't turn off once it was turned on.
This persisted even after taking out the battery and putting in back in numerous times. I ended up having to send it back to Samsung for replacement. Fortunately I only had to pay about $6 to ship it to them, and the repair/replacement was free.
Despite this hangup, I still recommend this camera for the price.
