TouchPad for Employee Purchasing Program Participants On Sept 28th for $99
HP is letting employees buy the TouchPad through their EPP program. The thing is, their EPP program is for an employee of ANY company that has a personal computer partnership for their employees through HP.
Both HP and my company handle these services through Beneplace.com. If you or someone you know has uses Beneplace for their employee discounts, check it out! (You might have to be on your intranet or use your company specific link)
Thanks for nothing...unless you can get me a job at HP.
wonder if you have to be an HP employee, or just have access to the EPP site. i've got access through a company i used to work for. guess i'll just have to check on the 28th.
I'll just call my buddy Meg Whitman to get me one.
EVERYONE can get this. I just spoke with a HP rep to confirm.
Go here... https://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/register_epp.do
then use one of these codes:
EP7483, EP2546, EP7283, or 7483, 2546, 7283 (I don't know if the EP is requred)
per the linked article... this doesn't start until the 28th.
@achyder: third code worked. If you just got me the possibility of a touchpad, ill give you a big kiss.
no homo
@peawok: Did you order one, or just get in?
@achyder Thank yor for the info.
I'll be awaiting the leak of the link on Wednesday!
Hope this works. If it does, I love you OP. If not... well.. no loves for you.
yes, you can register for HP's Employee Purchase Program, but that does not mean you will be eligible to purchase a TP tomorrow. You must be an HP direct employee, with an HP employee ID # and an HP paycheck, according to the folks at hpshopping.com.
@utwoodsman: Could you provide a more specific link?
I can only go off of what I heard. I asked an HP sales rep directly 'Touchpads will be available for HP employees on the 28th through the EPP, have you heard about this and am I eligible as a EPP member?' She said yes to both, even after I rephrased the question for confirmation.
I don't expect people are putting money down on whether or not this particular sale will pan out. Then biggest loss if it doesn't work is that I won't be getting a man-kiss from @Peawok
@achyder: Won't be any more of a loss than our cancelled orders for free throwing knives....
just a bigger disappointment.
OK, so now what? It's not available at the store.
@sflesch: well it said 9am pacific so we have to wait and see. plus with the kindle fire releasing today might be better to reallocate funds for that instead of touchpad.
where is it i cant find the link to buy one?
@bravobrk: Can't you wait 'till 9:00 a.m. PACIFIC TIME?
Sorry jumped the gun. Google revealed the exact time for Pacific. I assumed Mountain Time was good enough
I'm hovering at http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/can.do?landing=rts_tablet&category=rts_tablet&catLevel=1&storeName=storefronts
Does anyone know of a better page to DDOS?
Keep in mind, you need to be logged in as a EPP program participant to see the thing (so the legent tells). My screen has "HP Corporate Perks" in the upper left corner indicating it.
Any bets on whether or not the site goes down?
I don't see it -- anyone have a link?
Any sighting of it yet?
Refreshing, but not getting a touchpad as available...it is 9 PST now, right?
Logged in, nothing. Wonder if the article was a hoax.
@woottj: I've seen the HP Employee sale article in legit sources. I suspect the codes we were given were for HP affiliates, not employees. There may also have been a special internal purchase site or something.
You really need to be an HP employee (they have a different EEP site) not just an affiliated company with EEP rights. http://hptouchpads.info/hp-set-to-offer-99-and-149-touchpad-tablets-to-us-employees-on-sept-28th.html
@jako99: Thanks. Figured.
damn it, i think i just need to give up on snagging one of these
Alright people go back to work, nothing to see here.
@jako99: Thanks for that info.
Yeah, it's probably an internal site. I saw at least one person said that they got one in this twitter feed: http://twitter.com/#!/search?q=%23FoundTP
"These are not the Touchpads you're looking for." Your Jedi mind tricks will not work on me...I'm clicking refresh until my finger falls off. Wait...lost finger. I'm out.
You are all welcome. I was trying to snag one too but my research this AM indicated that it probably wouldn't happen. I would not be surprised if the final release to the public follows this when they figure out how many are left after employee purchases...so it is probably a goof idea to keep an eye on the HP site from here on out and I am sure someone will post on deals Woot as soon as they drop. Good luck to All!!
@ingrown: Twitter troll?
HP Employee here, getting to the cart is like screaming fire in a movie theater, seems like everyone and there mother is getting one.
@achyder: Yeah, i suppose that's possible
@ramzus: Have to wonder what percentage of those will wind up on eBay...
@mechanicsc: I have a good feeling that its going to be a good chunk, I personally don't recommend these tablets to anyone due to it being a dead tablet. Also, off of the statistics I have read, Nvidia's Tegra 2 is better then the Snapdragon. Then again, that can be personal preference.
HP Tablets are now no longer posted on the EPP site. They have removed the tablets within the hour of starting the employee discount sale.
All that shows now are parts for the tablets.
UGH why can't my company be cool and do something like this? Can we get a group buy going and get a few thousand peps interested for a big discount?
Wow, I think we crashed HP's web site.
If Wooters cannot get one, no one can!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Woot We crashed the Site! Go Figure... No wonder HP was wanting to dump it's PC division... I wonder if they are actually using Atari 1024ST's to run the HP EPP
@fooknboomn: ya, HP say's they are doing this but it really looks like more Hope and Change.....
My company has a EPP plan in place with HP, too bad I aint got the 99$ to shell out until Friday!!! ARgh!
@rikus: Don't worry, They MIGht have their server/software problems sqared away by Friday....
@hpoverload: HAHAHA your right, so there is a silver lining!
Their servers were doing fine until the time it was mentioned for the sale. They you have who knows how many thousands of people hammering their refresh button to try and get one of the touchpads.
Oh well. Longer I wait to get a tablet the better hardware they get and hopefully the cheaper they become! Not like I really need one to begin with.
Aww, I was wondering why I couldn't get on HP.com to buy a laptop today. Damn tablets.
Disclaimer to the FBI: We are not protesting the under-stocking of the Touchpads by "Anonymously" rushing the site. We just want medium quality merchandise at low quality prices really really bad.
HEY! YOU BEEYATCHES!!!!!!
Get off line and off this site!
I can't get in!
