The Fine Print:

Limit 1 per person. Limit 1 per visit. Must redeem Groupon voucher here for a Staples eGift Card, which can be used in any participating Staples store. Groupon voucher not accepted in-store. eGift Card never expires. eGift Card valid in-store only; eGift Card not valid at Staples.com.

PROTECT THIS CARD LIKE CASH!

Instructions: This card may be used just like cash toward the purchase of merchandise and services at any Staples U.S. retail store; your receipt will show the remaining balance on the card. For balance, or if you have questions, call 1-888-609-6963 or visit staples.com/giftcards. Value can be added to this card at any Staples U.S. retail store.

Also let me remind everyone that you CAN stack this with any coupon/offer Staples decides to do in the future. You'll even get Staples rewards on the full eCard amount. This eCard is just like cash.

@firebirdude: Thanks for posting all of that.

Open question for anyone: Why does Staples not allow the use of gift cards on their website? It seems like a completely backward idea that is terrible for the customer experience.

"...which can be used in any participating Staples store".

Words like "participating" are a red flag.

@therlog: I ended up biting the bullet and getting the Groupon. Once you redeem the Groupon voucher online for the Staples eGift Card, the terms on that read:

"FOR BALANCE INQUIRY CALL 1-888-609-6963. IF YOU HAVE CONCERNS, PLEASE CONTACT CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-877-850-1977 OR EMAIL AT staplesgiftcardsupport@cashstar.com

You may redeem this eGift Card at any Staples location. This card is not redeemable for cash."

Looks like Groupon did their standard TOC with the "participating" locations, but the actual eGift Card says it's good at all Staples locations.

"Cannot be used for credit card payments or to purchase other gift cards (including Staples gift cards) or wireless cards."

Good if you want to buy office supplies or technology items, but not if you want to buy iTunes gift cards.

$40 of merchandise for $25, people. If you ever purchase items at Staples, this is a no-brainer.

Don't need any tech or office supplies. Any idea for some...staple...I could buy here and take advantage of the discount?

@omnichad: They have K-cups, or at least the one in my area does. Even if you don't have a Keurig, the cups make a nice gift if you know anyone who does.
