This is super tempting, but does anyone have experience with this set (or Haier sets in general)?
I'm a poor college kid, and so a cheap HDTV for my inner gamer is always appealing.

I have two I use at work to monitor cameras. No problems with them. Last week they had this tv for 197 with free two day shipping. Also had a 10 dollar gift certificate I used. Added the 3 year square trade warranty and had it delivered to my door for 219 bucks. Only issue is I can't find the code to make it work with my ATT uverse service.

edit to add: The tv works fine with the uverse, I just can't control the tv with the uverse remote.

From the top review:

"The sound from the built-in speakers is excellent - in part due to using an HDMI cable - and the Sound Leveler really works. No more spikes when changing channels and it even works on commercials that used to blare 10 db higher than the program."

Thats tempting enough, and the price helps to boot... And I do have $110 in Amaozn Gift Cards....

@scootergptx: According to the review, Try the DURABRAND codes.

I will say this about the speakers. The wife thinks they're fine. A little too tinny for me. But if you going through another sound system they should be fine. And I wish all the other tv's we have had the sound leveler

@teenracer6, thanks, I'll try those!

Love my Haier 32" 720p LCD. It's perfect for my bedroom, and has lots of nice aspect ratios: normal, zoomed normal, hd, zoomed hd (did not use this one as much until Verizon FiOS's latest update/format change, now...all the time).

Seriously considering buying this to shut up my roomate down in the basement and bring the last bit of my home into full HD output.

Very satisfied for the price, got it ~ a year ago for $240 w/ newegg promos. 0 Problems, even works better than the 50". Use it unmounted, great sound to my untrained ears.

Woops, guess I did forget the one con: remote setup was a bit funky with the FiOS remote, I started to just go down the list (by following instructions to change code when I press DOWN) until the tv turned off, which it eventually did. No idea which code I am using, but I have full functionality, minus aspect ratio change... thanks for not having that button Verizon.

i bought one of these when they were here for $197 and have no problems with the picture or quality. its only 720p and, yes, the speakers aren't top notch, but for a <$200 delivered 32" monitor it's quite a deal. another FYI - it shipped to nyc for free in two days

@cornellbigred

I had to carry my roughly 50 ton 32" tube TV up three floors...
It's worth $200 just to not have to carry that thing ever again.
But at least I have a TV? :)

Add this code 8C65VF3Y when you purchase the tv with a Master Card and you will get $10 off. Just ordered one for my son for Christmas!
