Anyone know if they will price match and give you the gift card?

@mucci2k: They should though you might have to get a employee who actually wants to do his job. Or just buy it with the giftcard and come back and say hey walmart has it for 299 I want to do best price guarantee thing.

@mucci2k: HIGHLY doubtful. As always, going to be up to the manager on duty. But policy says no way.

On that note, WalMart has the Mini exactly $30 less than the Best Buy prices.

I did get the price match for 299.99 and then the 30 dollar gift card.

They price matched target which had a $40 gift card. BB gave me the $30 gift card and took $10 off the ipad at the register....

Or you could buy it online and save roughly $30.00 to spend any way you choose, by not paying sales tax?

@mrbarister: unless you live in like Alaska (maybe even there I'm to lazy to check) I'm pretty sure you'll get charged sales tax from basically any major store. IE: walmart, bestbuy, target. etc.. They can and will charge you sales tax if they have a store in your state

Got a mini a few weeks ago. Did the Walmart price match, but $30 on top would have been nice. Hope they still have this deal when I go purchase another one for a gift. $30 gift card to go towards a case. Can't beat that.

I have some rewards zone bucks which would make this a killer deal. Decisions, decisions..

Seems like a good deal, but Best Buy lost my patronage. Terrible customer service, employees are not knowledgeable and their prices are hardly comparable to anywhere else. Thanks, but I'll pass.

I soooo wanted this to work! I had $40 RZ bucks, so it really would have been a good deal. I did an online chat with BestBuy, and the girl was super-nice. She gave me the phone number for price matching (Walmart's is $299) so I called them. The guy I spoke to was also very nice, but said that if I did a price match, I wouldn't get the $30 gift card. I haven't given up all hope. I may try to do it at the local store. I have a friend and relative that work locally, so maybe they can "hook me up".

@thetogg: How did you get the double discount? See my post for details, but they told me I couldn't get the gift card and price-match.

vote-for1vote-against

@kingjames1979: It's a double-dip discount. Best Buy policy says no (like any other big box store). However everything is always at the manager's discretion. If they just need the revenue dollars that day or maybe you're planning on buying $100 worth of accessories/extended warranty at the same time, they'll override policy and hook you up. Don't expect anything, but its been known to happen.

@erockem: where do you find the 40 dollar gift card in target?

vote-for1vote-against

I called the BestBuy 800 number, got them to price match Wally World.com, AND got the gift card with no problem. Didn't even have to speak with a manager.

Both the store and over the phone told me that they could either price match Target for the iPad mini 64GB or I could get the gift card. They even said the system wouldn't allow both. I opted for the price match at the store (which the clerk couldn't even get right, charged me an extra $.99). It later showed on my receipt that the guy who checked me out activated a gift card. I later went back, and sure enough, the gift card was sitting at the register I was checked out at. The manger gave me the gift card "for my troubles".

I also like how they deduct the $30 for the gift card from your Reward Zone points. I bought the iPad mini 64GB Wifi only, after the price match it was $499 but only shows 469 points to be posted on my account.
