lol how ironic.
A Gun accessory.
No guns. That's against the rules. Gun LIGHTS on the other hand.....
Can this be used as a bike light?
@anorion: With duct tape, anything is possible.
DANGER DANGER ... BATFDHSFBI are trying to get you to reveal your gun ownership by offering cheap gun accessories. D'ONT TAKE THE BATE
Tempting...
This isn't a bad deal, but considering that you can get a Streamlight TLR-3 for $85-ish or a TLR-1 for $100-ish, it's not the greatest deal in the world.
Also, be mindful that if you want to holster your gun with this light mounted, you probably won't be able to find a holster that supports this light.
Seriously, I wonder how focused it is and what kind of range will you see.
Also, they mention "weaver-type" mounts so I guess this would go on my .22 varmint rifle?
Buy this and you'll be better equipped than space Marines in the year 2145.
@asme: Nah, my carry isn't the same as my "GTFO of my house gun" lol. GTFO needs this light, the carry, well, maybe nightsights at the most.
@jaburg: "Can be mounted on most any Picatinny, MIL standard 1913 or Weaver style mount."
So pretty much any modern pistol or practical rifle. (Oops, I almost said the t-word there.)
@asme: Unless you are buying something injection molded, you wont find many holsters designed for a specific light anyways. Some custom leather solves that problem pretty quick.
I am definitely not interested in this for my carry gun, but I may pick one up to keep around as a spare.
@jaburg: Weaver's and picatinny's are pretty much the same as far as compatibility...so as long as your rifle has a modern mount, you're golden.
It's just the long rail with slots in it :D
I'll find one real quick...nevermind - a quick Google search will show you everything
@anorion: if you have a picatinny rail mount on your bike then sure.
I see why Woot! decided against firearm stuff...I knew there were a lot of people sensitive about it, but DAMN - 4 downvotes in like 10 minutes on a WOOT owned deal...
I'll go even more out of the way to avoid gun stuff...didn't realize it impacted you guys that hard.
And the deal itself is awesome, so it's nothing to do with quality - just sensitive people.
@drchops: Guns are scaaaaaary. Personally I'm more afraid of people than guns, guns won't do anything without an irresponsible person messing with it.
And yeah, the deal is awesome, nice to see some real life deals offered by woot!
Fine, delete my funny comment. I guess I'll replace it with something inane like...
This item looks like it generates enough light to see things previously obscured by darkness. That seems useful in certain circumstances.
@drchops: Some people must prefer you shoot into darkness instead.
@drchops: You're discounting the downvotes as possibly being that this isn't that great of a light for the money.
@haroldwnorris: When I shoot at the darkness, it tends to not be so dark for a second.
However, when I don my robe and wizard hat, casting magic missile at the darkness tends to not do so much. Detect magic on the other hand shows me when any assassin worth worrying about is in my room.
Doesn't fit snug enough. Will slip some on the gun even after it is secured. Not a good thing when factor in the recoil. So don't put a lot of faith in it after your first shot, recoil could put you in the dark.
@xavoc: $14 cheaper than everwhere else before shipping, that's pretty good. But yea, those that don't know exactly what this is and the quality, they probably voted down. We know that those who don't understand an item will vote down, no matter what it is.
Will this mount on an XD subcompact? I have the small 3" barrel and I basically only have an inch of rail on the front IF that much.
Will this fit a Smitty 357 magnum revolver?
In self defense all I'd need is to get close to the head or torso, and game over.
Mounts to anything with a 1913/Picatinny rail. Surely some enterprising soul has devised such a thing for bicycles or other non- shooting iron applications.
@tzitzi: It should fit but you might have the light a little ahead of the barrel at the front of the gun. Won't effect anything, just might have the light a little further than the barrel itself. Might have an issue with stability of the mount itself...but if you're a good shot only one shot is needed, lol. Two to make sure they're down, three if you're military to positively and absolutely make sure.
Mac compatible?
It's only 90 lumen but still not a bad price. I don't really think a gun with a flashlight attached to it is meant to be carried in a holster. This is more for home defense purposes where you can keep a weapon accessible.
@goldiemcg: Thanks, and I actually am active duty at the moment, but only for another month. September I'm punching out @ 6 years, thanks again for the info!
This'll come in handy on the subway. In for 3.
Wow, this is getting a lot of traffic pretty early, and it, surprisingly, still is in the positive as far as votes go. This looks to be a good deal, though I didn't even know S&W made a light like this. I'd certainly be interested in this if I didn't find an awesome deal on a new TLR-1 for $70 shipped a few months back. Maybe my dad would want one of these for his gun.
@tzitzi: Thanks for your service, much appreciated.
@tzitzi: Here is good view of the light on the rail that you can zoom up on.
For 2x the price you can get a flashlight and laser
@mashuren: You'd better first make sure its been approved by the Union Aerospace Corporation, in any case you'd have to probably duct tape it to the barrel, that worked for me.
Good light at a good price. Here is a post to CTD; read the customer reviews at the end.
Also, manufactured by PowerTech, Inc. for Smith & Wesson.

Am I the only one who finds it lame that gun deals (on the guns themselves) are not allowed? I recognize some people don't like it, but some people don't like half naked women all over the place (lingerie deals) and that is allowed.
Gun ownership is a RIGHT enumerated in the constitution and has been upheld in the courts, including the supreme court, to be an individual right. Moreover, the purchase of firearms online is regulated and has checks in place to ensure responsible gun purchasing that makes the purchase the same as going to your local sporting goods store and going through the same background checks.
I know the constitution holds no weight on what Amazon / Woot decide to do with their business but it is still lame. And before anyone decides to say "guns kill" yeah so does drunk driving and woot sells a crap-top of wine.
@gossipninja: Well, the point of wine isn't to kill, while the actual point of a gun IS to kill. marijuana is illegal, but it doesn't kill anyone, while most anyone can get a gun, somehow. A gun is a weapon, its made for killing. A knife can be used as a weapon, but its main purpose is to be used as a tool for cutting. You could say, "Oooo I like to shoot guns at targets cause its fun for me", But you could use a BB gun for that, or laser tag guns. Guns DO kill people.
Wait, since when aren't gun deals allowed? They totally used to be.
I just lost a lot of respect for Woot.
Here is a youtube review http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5WP-VhmDqyg
I wonder if this will fit on a Glock or H&K rail.
Nevermind... One of the pics has it mounted on a Glock.
Guns are allowed, see 'em all the time on Sellout Woot, but you can't buy firearms online in many states like New York and California due to the state regulations.
So is this for like shinning deer? Must be a Texas thing...
@sucker4crap: No, it is for target identification.
@bigmwater: A gun is a tool. It's a tool that was designed to be used to kill people, but it's still a tool. Idiots that misuse tools are who/what kills people. Also, like he said, buying a gun online requires the same process as buying one in a store. In fact, since you probably don't know, the gun has to be shipped to a Federal Firearms License holder. This is the very license that allows gun stores to sell guns. So, in effect, the gun is being sent to a 'gun-store' (even though some FFL holders explicitly deal with online gun transfers like these) which then goes through the EXACT same process as any licensed gun-store in your state has to go through. They typically charge some sort of fee for going through this process without you actually buying a firearm from there store (which would include the 'transferring cost' in the sale of one of their firearms). You missed his entire point that guns are still available on the web. Also, BB guns and laser guns are very, very different.
i wonder if it will fit on my S&W .40 and .45. on my .40 i had to buy a separate rail and laser to mount under the barrel since it has to way to put one on top, any ideas anyone?
on other hand can i hook it up on my 12ga pump under my scope?

@bigmwater: What's the point of a throwing knife (aside from its tip)? It doesn't serve much of a purpose other than to be thrown at things, and its original purpose was to be thrown at people. Now people throw knives for sport. Competition shooters use different guns and different calibers because they're DIFFERENT. If they wanted to shoot laser guns or BB guns competitively, then that's what they'd shoot. So long as even one person in the entire world is allowed to have a gun, or has the ability to acquire one, then I want one for myself. If that ever comes to not being the case, then I'll give mine up, but I wouldn't force anyone else to to get there.
@grtgrfx No, they aren't. They haven't been allowed since Amazon bought woot, at least.
@bigmwater: what could be the sole purpose of wine if its not meant to kill you. i mean i never heard anyone saying oh by drinking wine i cured my cancer but sure heard people saying oh i lost my liver due to drinking wine. drunk drivers kill more people in a year than guns. so please get your facts straight before you speak. the problem here is you might kill one person with a gun but my drinking and driving you will probably gonna end up killing a whole family. and seriously BB and laser guns lol, what are you 5 years old lol
