Enjoy some food with your Knorks
A Knork is a hybrid form of cutlery which combines the cutting capability of a knife and the spearing capability of a fork into a single utensil. Helpful for people who have issues with their hands that make mealtime a bit of a challenge.
The comfort and stability of this 18/10 gloss finish Knork flatware set is a unique addition to your tableware. This set includes one each: 9 inch knife, 7-1/2 inch knork, 7-1/2 spoon, 6-3/4 salad knock & 6-3/4 teaspoon. The Knork was created to provide a single utensil capable of using the benefits of both cutting like a knife & spearing like a fork without the sharp knife edge. This design consists of a balanced handle & finger platform. Its beveled edge cuts through meats like steak, chicken or ham as well as vegetables & pizza. All 5 pieces are forged & hand created one at a time.

"the benefits of both cutting like a dinner knife and spearing like a fork, together as one, without the sharp knife edge"
Somehow I fail to believe that these will cut anything. Will they also throw in some Ginsu Knives?
@crabnebula: I'll bet it'll cut up Frankenmeat without a bit of problem. ;)
I'm still waiting for the spoon/knife combo. You know, the Spoofe.
The idea here isn't that a fork will replace a steak knife, but that the edge of the "knork" comes to a tapered end, a little smaller than a butterknife, and since it's curved, you can "rock" your way through most foods with the fork. Wonderful for me since I have neuro damage that makes my right hand pretty weak. There's also a well-placed flat spot on the neck of the utensil for your finger to go while you're pressing on the knork, and a REALLY nicely-shaped handle at the back to allow you to hold the knork from the back without it flopping around in your hand (like traditional forks do for me). I have several of these; if you have hand weakness issues, I HIGHLY recommend them. If you have no reason to believe your current utensils aren't holding up to your standards, then don't worry about them. But I love mine dearly.
@loubriccant: I think Coleman really makes something like that for camping!
Although I think it's more of a spoon-fork-knife thing.
edit: Nope. It was a Light My Fire product http://www.lightmyfireusa.com/spork.html Not quite the same thing but I suppose it would work.
@fretlessman71: So they really do work? Something like this would've been good for my Mom. I wish I had known about them a bit earlier.
I'm disappointed this set doesn't include a spork.
:(
From the description, this is what is included:
"7-1/2 inch place knock, 7-1/2 place spoon, 6-3/4 salad knock"
@llbeanj: yes. I did a quick cut and paste from Amazon's description and there were several other misspellings that I managed to catch. I saw those last two spelling errors AFTER the edit window closed.
Apparently the knork-only set is geared towards "special needs" eaters:

The KNORK® can be used as an eating aid for people with limited hand mobility, from temporary injuries to permanent conditions such as severe arthritis and hemi-paralysis (more commonly known as one-sided paralysis.) KNORK® looks like a normal eating utensil and attracts no attention when using it. People who would otherwise require that their food be cut for them-- or else limit their meal choices-- can gain increased independence by using the KNORK®. Because of KNORK®?s rising popularity with stroke victims, amputees and others who only have the use of one hand, KNORK®s are slowly infiltrating hospital rehabilitation units and cafeterias across the country. Unlike a knife, the knork cuts through food with a rocking motion which is facilitated by a finger platform on both sides of the handle. Knorks are symmetric and can be used by both left-handers and right-handers.
My mom had a stroke a year ago and we now own 4 knorks. they work great. It makes it easier for my kids to cut their food as well.
Too ugly for me
@jtrelow: Form follows function. Doesn't necessarily mean beauty is right behind it ;)
@jtrelow: I actually really like the rounded style.
You have to trust this, guys. It was invented by Abe Lincoln and Gandhi!
@razu304: Maybe so, but don't forget Arthur! http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~silversmiths/makers/silversmiths/185161.htm
Looks cool, but at $19 per person, gets pricey pretty quick!
@tcayer: It's not a mass produced item so the prices are going to be higher.
This was the best price I could find and if someone finds a better one, please post the deal and then link to your post here.
@sirwimbly: Gee, cartoons sure have changed since "Dexter's Laboratory."
