I've always wanted to go to sam's club! sounds like and expensive trip this weekend!

vote-for1vote-against

I loooove Sams! It does put a large dent in my wallet when I go though!

vote-for8vote-against

I live 1.6 miles away from Sams Club and 9.0 miles away from Costco.

We have the Costco card for years now and I haven't been to Sams Club for about fifteen years now.

Looks like I'm about to find out what's good at Sams Club this weekend!

Excuse me for not understanding all of this fully, but is this a free for all shopping experience at Sam's Club -for any item on the dates posted OR is it only for specific "entertainment" (food?) items that are specially marked?

I've shopped only at Costco for the last few years since that is only the viable driving distance for us. Sam's membership was eons past and I must say that I do miss out. Have only come across a couple of times about free passes for a day only special shopping event for non-members, bit this specific post seems to confuse people like me.

Need clarification from someone. Thanks.

Great, now I have to shop with the people of walmart.......lol

@inetcruise - It's a special samples tasting event AND an "open house" - no guest upcharge on shopping. At least, that's what I figure, given that it's both in-store and online. Unless they plan to ship me teeny cracker samples.

Update. I started shopping around on the website, and the only thing required for non-members is a short registration form (Name, Address, Ph#, Email, Password). The same info you'd give at checkout, and you can uncheck the 'Send me Mail' button.

This is a great weekend for members to shop too. It will be busy, but there will be lots of samples to try new products. Also, there should lots of specials since they are trying to lure people into buying memberships. Win!

Thanks for the heads-up. Check Sams Club off of my list of places to go this weekend!!

10 lbs of beef jerky, here i come.

We've been holding out for a 5 gallon bucket of Ranch dressing...

I wonder if I can buy gas at their pumps? .11 cents/gallon cheaper than anywhere else around here.

And FYI to all, Sam's Club does NOT take VISA cards. So just be prepared for that.

Fantastic deal, thanks for the post!

@firebirdude: I'd be wary of Sam's Club gas. The last time I got some from there the gas I bought had water in it and it was a pain to get my car started again.

That could possibly just be an isolated incident, but I've sworn off their gas since then.

@inetcruise: Yes, the entire store is open to everyone this weekend. (the wording on the post is a little iffy). There will be a lot more food samples than normal.

PS I work at Sam's if anyone has any questions.

vote-for7vote-against

@firebirdude: You can only buy gas if you have a Sam's membership card.

Sam's takes Visa debit cards, just not Visa credit cards.

vote-for4vote-against

@wienerdogsrule DITTO!! Except I'm buying 50 lbs of beef to make my own jerky! Plus 10 lbs of king crab legs!

vote-for1vote-against

@dijital101 if I go get top round london broil, is there a meat person that will slice it all about 1/4" thick for me? I normally go to the local meat packing to do this but it obviously more $.

vote-for2vote-against

@inetcruise: Unless you're interested in finding a few specific name brand items in bulk, you're not missing much. If there was a Costco near here, I'd personally never even consider looking at Sam's Club. I know that because while I was living in another location there was a Costco. Costco is such a better deal than Sam's Club.

@triplebud: At our club I always have the pork loin sliced and ribs trimmed and cut. Most clubs have a buzzer at the meat case where you can ring for someone in the back to come help you. No additional cost!

vote-for3vote-against

@triplebud: Yes, there are meat cutters on duty that will custom cut your meat for no charge.

vote-for-1vote-against

@triplebud: I've never heard of ANY store charging extra for cutting/packing meat any way you want it.

vote-for1vote-against

@firebirdude: typically your old style butcher shops do. They are small and that's how they make money.

vote-for1vote-against

I may not be smart enought to shop at Sams, but I can not find where/how to sign up for this very special event! Can anyone hep me out?

vote-for1vote-against

I shop at Sam's nearly every week. Now that the kids are grown up and moved out we don't buy nearly as much as we used too there but still find good deals on some items.

Have been since 1984

vote-for2vote-against

@conanthelibrarian: By the way, you have the best name ever!

vote-for1vote-against

@pappasid: Just go to your local Sam's and shop away.

vote-for2vote-against

@luvche21: DON'T YOU KNOW THE DEWEY DECIMAL SYSTEM?

vote-for2vote-against

To save even more (potentially) Sam's Club uses a 1 cent code of $0.01 to represent items that have been placed for sale. So if you see a price ending in one cent, you know that it has been marked down.

vote-for1vote-against

I've read that you still have to fill out some kind of registration form for this free weekend; I guess it is some kind of guest pass. Kind of lame, but them's the breaks.

vote-for1vote-against

@dijital101: It depends on the location. I suggest you take a debit card, or call ahead and ask.

vote-for1vote-against

@orionantares: I have a membership at Sams,Costco and BJ's,Costco is by far the best club for varity, price and service. Sam's is closer to me so I still go there often and it's worth the membership fee but it's not Costco. Good idea to check it out though maybe you will feel differently and you will get some free food samples.

vote-for2vote-against

@dijital101: Actually, you CAN get gas with this temp card. I just did it. You have to flag down the gas lady and have her swap her card, but it was no problem.

I also bought a set of tires with my temp membership! BFGoodrich is offering $50 MIR on any set of 4 tires. But it's not valid at membership clubs, such as Sam's...... So they make it an instant $50 at the register!! Cheaper than I was able to find it anywhere else! Thumbs up on this deal!!

vote-for1vote-against

@firebirdude, not the cut that costs more silly, the meat. It's way more money at a local meat packing. I like to support local business but not for $2 more a pound! However if you go to a local supermarket, not all places will slice the meat a 1/4 to 1/8 inch think. They should, yes, but you also have some five year old kid at the meat area and they don't do anything extra for you.
