This player has a lot of bad reviews from various places on the internet. From what I've read so far they mainly point to it having issues connecting to things via wifi. They're also refurbs. Keeping all of that in consideration, even with the stated problems, in my book $19.99 for a machine that will play a blu-ray movie (if nothing else) is still a pretty good deal.

vote-for12vote-against

Has an ethernet port - would be useful if wifi is having troubles, I'm in for one, I need a blu-ray player.

vote-for8vote-against

Checking into pricing of this item. EDIT: Fixed.

vote-for8vote-against

It has been fixed by the retailer.

vote-for8vote-against

HDMI is the only video connector on this player.

vote-for8vote-against

tempting but I will pass just due to it being connected to Best Buy. I have had bad luck with their shipping and been lied to by their customer service("supervisors" at that) multiple times.

vote-for8vote-against

It says "pre-owned", not "refurbished". That's interesting.

vote-for7vote-against

Careful you do not get one without remote.

Here is a location for owners manuals, how to videos. and FAQs

This is the manual that can be downloaded from the above site.

- Fully functional
- May show limited signs of use
- May be missing parts or accessories
- May have dents or scratches
Sounds like either my first wife or my first car.

vote-for6vote-against

Appears to be $81.99 when you click thru.

vote-for5vote-against

If you go to the main page it has the discounted price. But my price is 24... Meh dont really want to deal with refurb/returns anyway.

vote-for5vote-against

Just bought one; if you scroll through to the last pages, there are higher grade ones. The highest I saw were 8s. As much as I despise BestBuy, I just couldn't pass up a Blu-Ray player at $30 shipped.... Also since they are owned by Bestbuy, expect tax.

vote-for5vote-against

It's been a while and I can't remember what I paid for mine, but I can tell you this is a heck of a lot cheaper! Still going strong, it's great player! I don't use the wifi since my (also Samsung) tv has wifi too, but it's a neat feature to have.

vote-for5vote-against

@tduemig: Worked for me.

$39.99
-$20.00
$7.49
----
Total: $27.48

vote-for4vote-against

Shipping is $7.49 for me...

vote-for4vote-against

It looks pretty good, but the quality of items on Cowboom sometimes leaves much to be desired.Great price for a "smart" blu-ray player though.

vote-for4vote-against

I show this as being $29.99...no more 8's avail.

vote-for4vote-against

A couple of weeks ago I returned a Sony Google TV player to Best Buy. It was stuck in a boot loop. I actually saw the store employees put it right back on the shelf. I will never by anything previously owned or refurbished from Besy Buy.

vote-for4vote-against

Seeing these are "preowned" and not "refurbs", I'm pretty sure that means that people have used and then traded them back in. I have to say that people can be pretty %^&*# disgusting. I would never buy something pre-owned or traded in after working in retail and seeing what got returned to the stores... yuck.

Refurbs, ok, yeah, sure, but something that's been in billy bob's bachelor house for 5 months and carried into the store under his stinky, sweaty armpit? I don't even want to mention how gross the remotes must be... no way, no thanks, I'd rather pay more.

Besides, even if it was refurb or new, the fact that this deal has anything to do with Best Buy (worst buy) seals it for me.. I wouldn't buy it if it was a penny. But that's just me and my .02

vote-for3vote-against

worked great, like other poster said click through to last pages for high rated "8" units, first one that they put up, 5 rated with-out remote

vote-for3vote-against

Add $7.50 for shipping . Kinda kills the deal even more .

vote-for3vote-against

@criticalcritic: Deal is alive and well. Apply the WOOT20 coupon mentioned by the OP for $20 off of the initial purchase price.

They list all sorts of different actual players. Some have remotes, some don't. Be sure to read all the fine print.

I have a Samsung BD6500. It freezes often but usually restarts, but on Lord of the Rings it stops about an hour into the movie and will not go further. Streaming is pretty bad too. I have kept up with all firmware updates. I went to Costco and got a Sony and it works great. I am finished with Samsung. I have a camera that didn't last 2 years. I have a DLP HDTV that started getting spots, found out there was a secret program to replace the chip but only if the customer found out about the program.

vote-for3vote-against

Well I did the other one , "Deal of the Day" BD-E5300ZA ($25+$5ship) without the Wifi , only because I found a condtion 8 and it will be hard-wired (and lightly used in a second bedroom) .
First time for a Cowboom transaction for me so if it sucks its going back and all I loose is $5 in shipping costs .

vote-for3vote-against

Picked it up as a spare or maybe a gift for someone that needs an extra. Found an "8" with remote and coupon worked with no problem. Shipping and tax brought my total to $28.89. Would have liked a manual but that's no big deal, I can print one.

vote-for3vote-against

These are pre-owned machines, not any type of refurb. Best Buy started buying peoples electronics/games/movies a while ago and that is what this is. Something somebody traded in for store credit.

vote-for2vote-against

Starting price is now up to $39.99.
I think it's safe to say that this DEAL IS DEAD.
(Considering it's now double the original price BEFORE shipping).

vote-for2vote-against

If you click on the main page, they now have it as $24.99 with $5 shipping.

vote-for2vote-against

@jnbapst: I think you will find that streaming movies over he internet (via Netflix or blockbuster) is best when using a physical Ethernet cable. WIFI just isn't really keeping up with that type of stream just yet, and can lead to choppy video that stops mid-movie or tries to constantly reload... That will definitely ruin any movie experience: even the anniversary edition of Beaches would be horrible!

vote-for2vote-against

@tduemig: ok now this is wierd.. it's like they are changing the rules... the coupon is now working (bringing it down from 39.99 to 19.99), but shipping isn't free

vote-for2vote-against

did you guys try the woot code of WOOT20 to get the price down?

Also, looks like they're sold out

Edit: Are you guys sure these were refurbished? They have a distinction on their site between pre-owned, and another category for refurbished.

vote-for2vote-against

Not sold out - I just ordered one (condition 8) and the code worked to reduced from $40 to $20 plus shipping and tax (I live in NY). Total still under $30 which seems pretty good for a wifi bluray player. First time ordering through Cowboom so we'll have to see how it goes. Double protected used paypal on credit card.

vote-for2vote-against

Not all of the 8's are at the end. they seem to be scattered around the listing. I saw a bunch of 7's too. When i added the warranty and shipping, it got to $33 for me. Since I don't actually own any BR, I will have to pass.

vote-for2vote-against

promo code doesn't work for me

vote-for2vote-against

Link is still working. I got 1 about 30 minutes ago at $27.52

vote-for2vote-against

I'm in for one. Had no problems with coupon code or the order.

vote-for2vote-against

Wow... someone complaining about $7.50 shipping? Do you live in some magical world where people will deliver everything for you free of charge just because you are so great? There is no free shipping- just some places build it in to their profit margins and price.

vote-for2vote-against

Not dead, just got a 7 with remote, manual (and even batteries) for $19.99 after the promotion code.

vote-for2vote-against

Just picked one up was $27.48 with taxes and shipping. A great deal, and while I was at it found a brand new Insignia 42" LCD 120Hz (NS-42L260A13) for $289. I have always had very good luck with Cowboom, and even when I had to deal with Customer Service they have always taken care of me.

vote-for1vote-against

this is dead... I've tried the coupon with the $39.99 and the $29.99 versions... all it does is save shipping.

vote-for1vote-against

+PA tax +shipping = $29.40

vote-for1vote-against

@prettywootprincess: yeah I got one at $29 shipped, but I'm tellin' ya, before it was zeroing out the shipping and keeping price at 39.99

vote-for1vote-against

I purchase this exact player new. Don't spend you money on this device.

vote-for1vote-against

@uwewood: Just tried again and promo code was accepted this time. I guess just keep trying.

vote-for1vote-against

just received, PERFECT, all paperwork and OEM box. Connected HDMI and CAT5 cables and connected with ease. surfing apps right now.

vote-for1vote-against

Mine came as well, but I wasn't as lucky. It looks brand new, but it won't play a disc of any type. Trying to RMA it now. :/

vote-for1vote-against

i guess this deal is now dead, code isn't working at all :(

vote-for-1vote-against

***Deal is Dead! Promo code no longer works.***
