1 Tahitian Vanilla Bean for $1
Tahitian Vanilla beans are generally shorter, plumper, and contain a much higher oil and water content than Bourbon beans. The aroma is flowery, fruity and anisic with a smooth flavor. They are often described as smelling like licorice, cherries, or wine. Gourmet and pastry chefs love to work with the Tahitensis variety, which is perfect for many applications. Our Tahitian Beans are A-Grade and will suit all your baking needs

Whoa! What an amazing site!!! The interwebs are amazing, sometimes. Who knew there'd be a site devoted to just vanilla beans? I must go poke the folks over on that vanilla question with this. It's just beautiful.
My zip code had a minimum shipping of $3.99 for one bean. Or, if you are having a vanilla bean emergency (and who hasn't), you could get it sent express for $23. Or go to World Market and get 2 beans for $3.
My wife likes to sprinkle cinnamon or nutmeg in coffee grounds sometime, it adds a nice flavor to the coffee. I have heard a tiny piece of vanilla bean ground up can add a nice flavor also. I am in for one~ something fun to try out.
Not a deal if you want more then 1 they offer 10 for 8.95 and probably better deals in bulk
Bought 10!

8 Free with ANY purchase (and they do mean ANY purchase), so if you're purchasing anything else at all, you get them free. Plus shipping (but you'd pay that anyway).
Madagascar beans are about twice the length of Tahitian ones, but I've no idea how the flavour compares.
They just lowered the price to $.75 / bean! It appears there are even better deals if buying 25 beans. They even have great deals on 7 other vanilla bean varieties. I think I might get Mexican vanilla beans and make my own Vanilla Extract. It's so easy! Just Vanilla Beans and Vodka...
@eneref: This site offers all varieties of beans (including the Madagascar), which is why it's so fun.
@shrdlu: Indeed. I was sucked into it, and am trying to convince myself I don't NEED more vanilla beans at the moment (I still have some left from the last time I needed them). But the prices are excellent, and I do love vanilla beans. :)
Anyone have a particular vodka they like to use when making their own vanilla extract?
@mirrorz: Russian Standard (platinum's my preference, although regular's just fine)
beans beans the music fruit, the more you eat the more you... errmm maybe that does not apply here...
now $.75/ea. 14:20 MST
A pound of their Tahitian Vanilla Beans contain approx. 110 vanilla beans. They sell a pound for $48.95. This comes down to about $0.45/bean! Sure beats $12.00/bean in the local grocery store. Now what am I going to do with all of these vanilla beans?
Any good ideas?
@roconweb: ebay?
Donate some to me!!
I was shopping for a vanilla bean (making flan) this evening and they wanted $8.00 for one bean at the local Gerbes (Kroger owned) supermarket. I opted to just use extract.
So, I'm in for 5 -- even with shipping it is still cheaper than one. (And I suspect as good or better quality.)
Apparently I took up the wrong career if you can get $5-$12 for one vanilla bean...
