Er. Muh. Gerd.!
My 3rd order this season! Best deal so far.

vote-for7vote-against

Great deal! I was able to space out my pear deliveries so that I didn't get them all at once. Yumminess coming my way for the next month.

vote-for3vote-against

I see the 50% off, but how do I get the extra 20%?

Was tempted… never tried H&D before. Decided to lookup the reviews. As lot of other websites do these days, they decide to default to sorting reviews with the highest ratings first :). I re-sorted with "Newest" at the top and found a lot of posts with sentiment similar to: "The pears I received this year were not as good as they have been in previous years.". Not sure I want to pay premium price (even with the mentioned discounts) if it will be a random crap-shoot. At least in the grocery store, I can pick them (and have become reasonably good at it :)). Anyone here with the latest experience (from the current season) they can share?

@trudyndu: @checkout, click on the 'enter promotion code' or whatever text below the $$ total. then enter 'FORYOU' in the box

I snagged a box of the royal pears for ~ $16 after the 20% and free shipping. It is a great deal!

@dislikeuce: You could always try one of their combo boxes that just give you 6 pears + some treats. Their treats will definitely be good! I haven't tried this year's crop just because I didn't want to pay the full price, but at $16 for a box I couldn't resist giving this year's a chance.

@dislikeuce: I picked up a box earlier this (last) year. I found that the pears were not as ripe out of the box as I had remembered in previous years. A couple of extra days ripening and they were just as good and juicy as I remembered.

I actually think that shipping them a bit under ripe is a good thing. I can speed up ripening on some by putting them in a paper bag with a banana and the others will stay fresh longer.

I just went with two boxes of 'maverick' pears, which are 'factory seconds'. It was %38 off. With the %20 FORYOU discount and free shipping, thats $20 for 10 lbs of pears.

@dislikeuce: I've ordered many things from them in the past 5 years. I've only been slightly less than wowed a few times. I once got a fruit (don't remember what) that was slightly bruised so they reimbursed me with whatever I wanted that was slightly more expensive for my troubles. In fact, i just got a gift of like 6 things and was very pleased. They have a fruit salsa thing that's jarred (that's not what it's called) that is sooo good. Just ate some a few nights ago. They really do have good customer service, so I wouldn't hesitate to buy something if you are on the fence.

@bigrichl: Thanks for the heads up bigrichl, i just did the same.

vote-for3vote-against

ok… decided to try them :) Getting the "cream of the crop" box for $20 shipped.
Thanks for all the reassuring posts.. and, of course, the OP for the excellent deal!

vote-for3vote-against

@dislikeuce: I only have last year and this year to compare, but last years pears were amazing! This year, they were just pears. They were both gifts, so maybe last year's was the cream of the crop and this years was the standard.

I've bought these pears as gifts before and they were very well received. I'm sure I paid almost twice this much, at the time. I ordered the extra large pears for $20 shipped. This is a great deal.

My order shows a shipping charge ... is there another promo code?

vote-for2vote-against

Awesome deal. Thank you for posting! I just spent $60 and will have shipments of pears coming every two weeks until mid-February. I can't wait!

vote-for2vote-against

@dislikeuce: A nice shipment of pears greeted me one day last month, sent by family. I too thought the pears needed a day or two to ripen fully, and when I ate the first pear I was nearly in tears, it was so good. I'm not all that wimpy, but these pears were stellar. So I ordered some when the first round of half-price listings came out, & those should arrive soon. I'm toying with the idea of ordering even more, but I may restrain myself. Too much of a good thing isn't always wonderful...but be assured that I thought this year's pears were faaaaaabulous.

@pgrassick: Not all items are marked Free shipping. Check what you bought. On the sale page the free ship items have it clearly marked in a red banner across the bottom of the picture.
Sale is still good. In fact they keep adding new items to it every day.

I orders some mavericks for me and some for a friend.
We already get fruit of the month ! BTW --Had the Pears at Christmas. They were stellar.
Was tempted to get the smoked turkey basket. But decided the giant cheesecake that came with it wasn't on my New Year's plan. Anybody ever have the smoked turkey ? Still tempted. Can always freeze the cheesecake and have it for guests or give it away.

Thanks for the heads up !

Just attempted the FORYOU code on a royal pairs box that was 50% off with free shipping and it wouldn't give me the 20% off in addition. :( Not sure if this code is still valid or not or what's going on but ya. I am disappoint. Still, the 50% off and free shipping is a fantastic deal, none the less so I went with it. Still wish I could have gotten that extra 20% off though!

@artistjones: Looks like they realized that they were slowly going broke! I just tried it too and it does look dead. I am expiring the deal after a good run.
