Is it 3.0? Or does the 3.0/2.0 just mean that it's 3.0 compatible, but really 2.0?

In the specs it shows a transfer rate of up to 5 Gbps.

I'd say this is the kind of trickery that falls under "False Advertising!"... tisk tisk best buy.

@juliank24: I have one of these. It's a USB 3.0 drive that will also work on a 2.0 port at a reduced speed.

Score! Thanks, my old one is getting full -- just the right time/price to get another. The one I bought several years ago has been very reliable, but the WD Smartware drove me crazy. I eventually wised up and deleted the WD backup software and use the operating system backup which works just fine.
