This is also a good deal from Redbox for folks new to them. I'll be new here soon with Netflix's 60% price increase.

Redbox: The safe-haven for us Netflix users

Come September, I'll be using Netflix for my streaming and Redbox for all the newer movies.

@patentdude: where did you hear that netflix was raising its cost and does it affect people that are already members?

oh ok I just read about it it will not effect me I only have the unlimited streaming plan that is a crazy leap in price though for people who still get the streaming and dvd plan.

Netflix DVD plan = $8/month unlimited out one at a time
Redbox DVD plan = $1 per rental per night

Get 8 or more Redbox rentals a month, you aren't saving $ like you thought (especially if you keep Netflix streaming). Netflix also has an exponentially larger selection than Redbox.

@howaboutno: That's true, but I don't think I've ever managed to get that many movies a month with Netflix. It takes at least 4 days for me to watch the movie, mail it in, and get another. That's 7 a month at most. I actually probably only get 5 or 6 a month, and usually all I get is the newer more popular stuff (like what they have at Redbox) anyway. So for me, using Redbox for DVDs instead of Netflix makes more sense.

With netflix I would feel obligated to watch movies, even when I don't have the time, just to say I got my money's worth. With Redbox, I can just get a movie whenever I have time off so that I can enjoy it and not have to squeeze it in. And for $1, I think i'm the winner in this deal.

@straub: @czupik: noooooo...please cancel altogether! use amazon streaming! you're falling into their plan of ditching dvds and f**king the dvd users in the meantime!

I wish this was 2 chicks at the same time instead of 2 movies.

So this comes to 50% off...pay $2 now on two, get $1 off on one later, sort of.

No thanks, I get my Redbox movie at 100% off every time....
